I gained 3-4 mpg with the thicker oil. I am not buying thin oil BS for better mpg. I have no idea why they push the thin oil. End of the day. The 0w-40 offers better protection especially from heat. I use Mobile one supercar, change every 3500 - 4000 miles.

My understanding. You don't want to go higher on the first number or lower on the second number. I would use 0w 30 or 0w 40.

In other countries 5w-30 is used in our trucks

Looks like since my recall was completed, mine is using more oil. It could be a coincidence but it went in at 30054 miles and now has 30736. In that time, its used about a 1/4 of a qt.

Yeah, but does it have iron or steel particles in your latest oil analysis? Cause my wife's Tahoe analysis just came back with that assessment. I went to 0W40 on it when I did the change.

Dunno. The oil has been in it for 700 miles approx. I will say I used the same oil prior and in the 1-2000 miles didn’t have this same issue so it could just be a coincidence. Or because the AC has been on and sitting at higher RPMs longer maybe it’s causing it.

Still tossing around the idea of trading it for a 6.6 diesel lol.
