Installed new updated catch can design from VSE. Had PPE catch can but decided to give this a try. Out of the box it’s solidly built and machined well. The hoses and hardware seem to be good quality. The instruction scan card in the box didn't directly direct to instructions, so I found a pdf online. Now the instructions are basic and straightforward but could use a couple reference photos for the offset bracket. VSE says to reference photo on their website. So here's my install on how I did it.
Tools 3/8 ratchet, swivel extension, long extension, 13mm socket, 13mm open/box end wrench, flat head screw driver, hose clamp pliers, AN wrench/ or crescent wrench, ratchet pipe cutter, #3mm allen key
I started out with the ccv and turbo hoses first. This space is tight and long hose clamp pliers are the best option for the factory clamp. The turbo hose uses a regular clamp but be sure to position it so it doesn't cut into the ccv hose from vibrations. Next moved to the mounting brackets. Instructions say to remove top right battery bracket bolt and the lower right battery bolt holding the block. The upright bracket is offset and has a long and short side and installs on top of the lower battery block. I went short side on the bottom on top of the block and long side towards engine. The main support bracket I installed the long end on the upper battery bracket but wedged it between the battery bracket and plastic heat guard and used long black bolt supplied. Then aligned holes on upright bracket and support bracket used the other short bolt and nut supplied. Everything at this point is just mocked up. Next removed the can from the head and found the position i wanted it at, I clocked it about 2 o’clock position. I used thread locker on the allen screws. Get one screw started then remove the support bracket and install rest of allen screws. Reassembled support and tightened all hardware. Lastly installed the AN fittings. Connected ccv hose first (more cabside) then turbo hose 2nd(engine side). I aligned ccv hose to fit without trimming, turbo hose had to cut it to length. Wipe out production oil from can and install can.
