What’s the chance/percentage, do us Chevy/GM 6.2L V8 owners, affected by the massive recall, think that some of our trucks would live a long, healthy life without any of the problems affecting our truck? The optimist in me, is always thinking mine will be ok, lol. I have a ‘23 ZR2 with just under 24k and runs like a charm so far, knock on wood, lol. I wasn’t that lucky though when I had my 2020 Trail Boss, as the lifter snapped in half at 32k miles.

Maybe your bad luck is gone, after the problems with your Trail Boss. I secretly feel the same way. My 22 ZR2 runs great at the moment with 21k miles. Hopefully my bad luck is gone already also. I had a 2015 Silverado 1500 LT Z71 with the 5.3L V8 that had the motor replaced cause it dropped a lifter from the stupid DFM system. Now a catastrophic motor problem can't happen to my ZR2. It can't possibly happen twice, right? Lol !!!

ANY? Slim chance. When people on forums bitch about a problem, I usually dismiss it as an anomaly that's making a lot of noise. However, when the Guberment gets involved, it's not noise...Your roll of the dice just got more likely to hit. Look up the number of service bulletins on that thing...Odds aren't in your favor, sad to say.

My 23 passed the recall inspection, so now double the cost of oil changes now with the viscosity change. I did get the 10 year 150k mile warranty extension. Still going round and round with GM corporate about the ZR1 oil change price difference, and as of now they don’t care to help.

Yeah, that’s a crock of shit. We didn’t ask or expect these problems when we bought these trucks, so imo, every time we take our trucks in, we should get a credit for half the cost of the new and double the cost oil change.

You do realize that more than just Mobil 1 Supercar is listed as Dexos R now? Magically, over night, it went from one oil to 5 or 6. Of course it's all Mobil 1 branded lol.

There are a lot more 0W40 oils that are now GM Dexos approved including Mobil 1 0W40 European formula. There isn't anything special about the Superacr oil for a run of the mill 6.2L motor. It might make a difference for high HP supercharged motors found in the Vette, Camaro, and Escalade.

You can get that oil at Walmart for $5 quart on sale and OEM filter for $10. You could change the oil on this rig for <$60 if you do it yourself........I've done it!

If you look at the video that Lake Speed put out, he discusses the manufacturing process flaw that may have occurred leading to bad cam shaft specs. He basically said that the cams thet were sanded to spec were early in the life of the sanding belt and those that were out of spec were when the sanding belt had lost its effectiveness. Basically each cam is spun x rotations on the machine and some did not meet the spec and QC did not pick up the anomaly.

So if you believe that, there are likely many, many motors that will spin a long time without issues.

I also believe that if GM doesn't know when or how the issue will arise, they may eventually replace every motor. So the recall may evolve as time passes even for motors that have passed the pico test. The 0W40 oil is essentially to buy more time for motors to be produced and replaced. I do believe that will be a function of the pending lawsuits and NHTSA rulings.
