Thanks, guys. After doing a little research, I found this problem with the O2 sensors in the L8T engine. Sure enough, I looked at the sensor before the Cat converter on the driver's side, and it was melted all the way into the 3 damaged wires. Looks like a pretty easy fix with a special tool to remove and a $60 part, but I will take it to the dealer since it's still under warranty. Crazy, they knew of this problem for years and couldn't just zip tie the wiring harness of the O2 sensor to keep it away from the heat. The 25-cent zip tie could have avoided all this.Talk to service advisor and see what they say. I'd run it in either way. Even if they deny warranty you might be able to negotiate a better price. It shouldn't be expensive unless a lot not diagnostic time.
Yep. They shouod fix that for sure! Thanks, guys. After doing a little research, I found this problem with the O2 sensors in the L8T engine. I've seen several videos on YouTube for other 2500HD gassers. Might be able to see how they routed it in the videos. So, I am wanting to put a cat back dual exhaust on my 2024 2500 6.6 gasser. I was looking under it and see that there is a heat shield on the passenger side of the spare tire. Do they have one for the driver side? Also the shock mount looks like a problem. I am looking at a Flowmaster cat back kit from Summit. Anyone had luck with making this work?
