I have easily mounted two Diode Dynamic lights using the AEV openings on either side of the winch mount area. Only Diode Dynamics or Rigid mount brackets will work. The Baja Designs brackets only have one centered hole in the bracket. Utilizing the factory supplied mounting holes require off set side to side mounting as well as being high enough to correctly face the light in the opening. I had to remove the front skid plate, which wasn't too difficult. I only had to run wire from the bumper up to the engine bay where my SPod BantamX lighting controller is located. The DD lights have a cool backlight, so you can run the lights as bright fogs, or amber running lights day or night. With the BantamX you have the ability to flash or strobe the lights in any mode.

Looks good! Seems like the tow hooks will block some of the light to the side.

Can these lights run amber and white without that bantam unit? I see some brands that do both, but I think they are knock offs with switches.

Yes they can. Does not need the BantamX. They require two positives and one ground. DD includes a 3 way switch.

Probably gonna order some can you post the specific part numbers for the lights you used and the harness? Thank you.

Did you have to run a wire through the firewall? I did my rears today, but ran out of daylight before getting my manual switch into the cab. Hadn't had a chance to see if there is a grommet I can run through or if I'm gonna have to come up through the floorboard like the AMP steps.

Very much appreciate your post as I recently purchased 1500 ZR2 Bison which uses the same bumper. As I’m not handy enough to do my own installation, I plan on having someone with more ability do the work. To that end, can you share the part numbers for the lights and switch controller and where you mounted the controller? Also, in that you’ve had the lights for almost a year are you still happy the set up?
Many thanks!

Yes very happy with it. I spent the money for the SPod BantamX. Only one Ethernet cable going into the cab, can run 8 items. The Bluetooth app can make your light flash strobe or dim. No more fuses or relays needed at all. It’s not cheap but I believe in doing it right the first time.

Hi,
Your truck looks great. I'm in the process of installing DD's into the same space and I came across your post. Can you tell me, what did you use for a bezel around the lights. It looks like you have something around them.
Thanks

Hi, thanks. The Bison bumpers have a plastic bezel around the opening. That is the only thing there. Do you have an AEV bumper?

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have the AVE bumpers, but on a 1500. Haven't pulled those plates off yet, so I wasn't sure what it was going to look like. I'm also replacing the stock fog lights with a pair of Diode Dynamics yellow fogs, as well as installing the AEV read backup light kit. Just don;t know where I want to put the switches.
Anyway, thanks again!

I made some custom bezel mounts for my 2500HD AEV bumper. Wasn't too difficult, but definitely time consuming to do a one off. I have a detailed post on what I did.

Ok be careful! I had to do some pulling on the passenger side hole. It tore off a crew tab that is screwed in behind the bumper. After I realized there was no reason to pull that cover off.

Good switches are worth it. I have an SPod and love it, but Garmin’s switch actually has an app you can control from the infotainment system.
