100% agree here. If it blows and the lack of propulsion causes an accident...there's just more that GM is gonna have to shell out for. lol

My dealership service rep advised me Not to drive my truck over the fear of the engine shutting down on a freeway etc. They have no idea when they will be able to take in our trucks for inspection. I'm just lucky as a I don't drive my truck for work daily. But I'm not gonna bunker down and Not drive my truck either.

I say drive it faster on the freeway so you have more time to cut people off and get over. Also when the rods come through the block and oil hits the headers you'll get a better smokescreen so MFers behind you know to clear a path. You'll look like Batman too, kids will wet their pants with all the excitement!

I wish I could describe my feelings with words. The truck is almost 1000 miles, and I think we might be on time to change the oil to 0W-40, but they're not even doing that, because it is a 2025.

Definitely good to do that first oil charge between 1000-1500 miles, it gets pretty dirty during break in.

May as well go with 0W40, but if it's hard to find 0W20 is fine. 0W30 work too.

So, we need more info. Can someone who is an insider find and post the TSB for this recall? I want to know what they are actually doing. I'm afraid that due to the volume of vehicles affected, they are going to just change my oil and filter and pretend it's all good...

Guess that depends, which recall did you receive? For instance, the recall notice I have ends in 0000. I believe, everyone has mentioned the one they got, all ended in 0000.

As of this morning the recall number isn't updated yet for my VIN which was built 2/24. But here is the newest recall ending in 002. Looks like GM waited till Q1 earnings report was released to announce this

I read it that way too, 24183, which is 6/1/2024, but at the top of the document, it says it only applies to certain VIN's as there are 3 separate recall numbers. Have to wait and see if ours get updated. There's something else they aren't telling us. Maybe its limited to a certain run of engines from a certain manufacturing facility but who knows.

I pulled the trigger two weeks ago and traded in my 2023 Silverado ZR2 for a 2024 Colorado ZR2. After driving for awhile I realized the 1500 was just too big, but the engine issue was the final straw for me.

I’m going to try to find my engine sticker but I have a ‘23 which is in the recall range. The NHTSA report confirms a tooling issue but it may have been an adjustment, procedural or software configuration issue that only affected engines from one of the plants…interweb reports two engine facilities for the 6.2L. It’s also interesting that the GM screenshot calls for 0W-20 for the replacement engine. And no mention of the P0016 engine code used for determination of engine replacement. It’s either going to be a new engine for everyone before a certain manufacturing date or dealership determination based on GM inspection procedure. If it’s the latter then don’t count on a new engine because the inspection procedure will favor the “house”.

If they can 100% say that the 25's will not have the same issue, I'll take the new engine. If they really do have the same shit parts and/or just running too thin of an oil to begin with, why bother with the hassle.
