6.2 Recall Letter

Well, driving to the cabin Friday with my wife in my 2022 zr2 and it blew the motor not even half way to my cabin and left us stranded on the side of the road for 3 hrs till we could get a flatbed, i had it towed to the dealer and they are calling me monday to give me there dianosis, i have 22k miles on it, it is only driven on weekends, and i turn off the auto shutoff every time i step in the vehicle

Auto shut off doesn't prevent out of spec cranks throwing bearings and con rods. Neither does 0W40 oil. Physics and Father Time are undefeated!

The warranty says no more than 30 days repair, remind them of that. Good luck!

Did you have the ‘fix’ done before this happened?

Dropped my rig off this morning for the following recalls: N252494000 (Engine Failure Risk) & N252510320 (ECM Software update). Dealer tells me they need my truck until Wednesday at the earliest. Do they really need two days to perform this service? I'm curious what steps they actually take to check the engine for defects. The entire process from making the appt to speaking with the tech is frustrating. I can't help but think they are incompetent.

I was told about 5 hours.......pico test, ecu reflash, oil change. If its not a scheduled appointment, your probably just waiting in line. Not all techs have the training to do the test, at least my dealer that is pretty good sized told me they only had a couple guys doing them.

Yeah - I used the Chevrolet App to schedule my appt because i hadn't yet received the recall letter. A notification on the app told me I needed to make the appointment and suggested I do it using the app. It was super easy, of course, the dealer claimed the didn't have the proper notification.

Dealer just called and said they just ordered a new engine, he said it would be in 5-7 days and it would be a priority to get it in as soon as it arrives, also they are giving me a new truck as a loaner till i get mine back, he didnt know anything about the warranty yet, mine is only the 2nd engine failure they have seen since the recall on the 6.2.

Sounds liks the GM grab bag is functioning as designed.

On the upside, I got my latest oil analysis done on the 1500 and she came back perfect. They must have fully machined that crank.

Waiting another week for the latest Tahoe oil analysts. Gonna be interesting to see if it had more iron particles. I suspect it does!

Dropped mine off today for the test. The loaner I got is a 3500 Duramax. What a beast, very quiet for a diesel! Suprised me but exactly the rough ride I expected...

Not sure if they did mine or not. I dont recall them mentioning it and I left the DFM disabler installed.
I left mine on and the dealer said it fried the ecm. They wanted $1000. I told them to prove it. They replaced the ecm for free but wouldn't give back the dfm disabler. I bought a new one and had it on me when I showed up to pick up the truck. That's when I saw they installed a silver wheel from a 10 year old Chevy instead of my black wheel on the driver front. They had to chase down the vehicle they installed mine on. Then the SA told me even though the engine passed their test, there was no extension on the warranty. Finally they asked for a perfect survey score, since it's their report card....

Check your Chevy app it is there. The dealer has nothing to do if you do or don’t get the warranty it is automatic.
