They had another ECU and pulled the range module and did the reprogramming. I'll be picking it up in the morning.
They did say the range DFM module contributed to the bricked ECU. But said they would warranty the part. I've always had a good relationship with the dealer and SA, so I suspect they went to bat for me here and I appreciate that.
I'm not so sure it did cause the issue, cause there's plenty of examples of them bricking during updates. Also I've had it in twice for other updates and told them it was installied. However, I will accept my share of the responsibility because I knew they were going to update the ECU cause he told me so when I checked it in. I should have reminded him it was in there. I also knew that Range recommends removing it for any work done using the OBD II port, which is basically everything nowadays. I should have pulled it and played it safe. So I'll own it!
Also found out that the Tahoe will not require the ECU update. I guess its VIN specific. But I'll plan to remove it anyway cause it only takes a few minutes.......live and learn.
