6.2 Recall Letter

Had mine done yesterday. Took roughly 5hrs before I got a call saying it was ready. Engine and ecu both handled. I passed. Manager said two have failed so far down here in south MS. One came in on a flatbed and the other was making a loud clunking noise when dropped off. So, not necessarily found during recall just failed engines. Crazy part was dealership I bought the truck from called and said they needed to address the recall and it would only be an hour. My local dealership, where I get all my work done, said standard 3-4 maybe a little longer. I told first lady she better check her times. I'd be pissed sitting there for a one hour job and it takes 5. Good news is I was due for an oil change so got that one done for free!

My '22 passed the PICO test, but the ECU update fried the computer. I had told my SA about the Range device, he thought that might have done it. They removed it when the replaced the ECU, and he made sure the tech didn't record any mention of it being there just in case.... Amazing what a bottle of Makers Mark does to grease the wheels!!

I would certainly think that anytime an ECU update needs to be done, the Range should be removed. The ECU isn't looking for it and doesn't know it's there and an update may very well create an unforeseen issue as it did in your case. An ECU update from the dealer should never "fry" an ECU unless something is amiss.

Dealer just called and claimed they cannot perform the N252494000 (L87 Engine Loss of Propulsion) recall because GM is "updating the procedures." They cannot do any recall work until they are notified by GM.

Anyone hearing this? WTF

I called GM. The Rep's solution was to "just go to a different dealer." Thinking about selling my truck and buying a Raptor. Tired of this nonsense

100% agree. I just kinda spaced on it....

Except there are now three of us with fried ECUs with the Range Module installed.....me thinks it's a problemo!

I'm thinking of looking into a Trifecta tune for the truck. It sure woke up my Bison Colorado, and gets rid of the DFM (AFM?).

Don't recall seeing this noted anywhere in the thread, so thought I'd share. ECM software update N252510321. My understanding is this will provide the driver with a message in addition to the check engine light when the diagnostic code P0016 (mismatch between camshaft & crankshaft) is detected. Update started rolling out around 08/14.

Makes sense! I knew they mentioned that on a couple YouTube videos I seen. I think one of them was feom Don's Life.....he's pretty thorough in his analysis.

Just got the call that it failed the test and now have to wait for the engine which is on backorder, smh. They said it would be a few weeks at least.
Wow, dealer called yesterday and said "somehow, the engine arrived" and it should be ready tomorrow! Then I can hold my breath and see what else will go wrong, it's always a domino, lol!

My service advisor said a while back that they were going to try to get motors inventories at the dealership for the replacements.

I still think the transmission valve bodies are hard to come by.

GM just shut down production of the Colorado, cause they can't get parts for them.......LMFAO.......Mary Bad Procurement Barra strikes just like you'd expect it!

I'm happy that I don't have to worry about my motor...only my tranny :ROFLMAO:
Better check your coolant system and see if your running 15W40. Conversely, maybe check the oil and see if your running Dexcool and water to cool the bearings.

Also be wary of the cam and lifters........nobody is immune to Mary Bad Motor Barra.....LOL.

Last I checked, coolant was clean and running 15W40.
