Alignment issue - steering wheel off center

I bought my first Silverado ZR2 about a month ago, a used 6.2 ‘22 with about 45k on it.

One of the first things I did was get rid of the original Goodyear MTs, they were super unevenly worn and loud as hell.

I swapped them out for a used set of General Grabber ATs with about 75% tread left and got an alignment at my local shop for good measure, and this is where I first noticed the issue. When leaving the alignment shop I noticed my steering wheel was slightly off center, when going straight the wheel would be turned slightly left. No pulling to either side, just the steering wheel itself was off center.

I took it back to the shop the same day and told the shop about the steering wheel being off center, they took it back and re did the alignment and then gave me some excuse about maybe the steering rack being bad or something because they couldn’t get the steering wheel straight while maintaining the alignment in spec?

So then I scheduled an appointment at my dealer for an alignment there and even told them about the issue and how I took it to an outside shop for an alignment and how they couldn’t center the wheel. They took note of this, did the alignment and sent me on my way. However after leaving the dealer the steering wheel was still off center the exact same way.

So now I’m left wondering what the hell is going on. If two different shops (one being the dealer), and 3 different alignments have all left the wheel off center, what’s the deal?

I haven’t been back to the dealer yet because of the holidays and everything, but plan on going back when I have a moment. I was also considering getting the peak 2.25” lift with new UCAs, so was considering just waiting until I get that done and then getting another alignment and dealing with it then.

Does anyone have any insight? Is there anything weird or unusual about the way these trucks are aligned that would cause an issue like this?

I got mine aligned after I added my 295 tires and - offset rims. Mine still drove straight but I thought it pushed a little in the corners and didn't feel settled under hard acceleration. My dealer did align it slightly out of spec to get it to ride considerably better. My steering wheel was off center about 1-2 degrees, but it handles so much better, I decided to leave it and ignore my OCD. Its been great for 16k miles now.

Your dealer should be able to get the wheel straight and keep the same alignment specs as it now has. I doubt your rack is the issue with low miles, that shop just sucks.

In the past, I have used the independent alignment shop that does alignments for lifted trucks. They were the most reliable for me and weren't so focused on what the "factory specs" were. But if your gonna due the lift, may as well wait for that.

I don't think I've ever had a straight perfectly parallel bowtie on the steering wheel on any Chevy I've owned
