I’m trying to make as informed of a purchase as possible for a ‘22 ZR2 1500 and was wondering if there are any service techs in here that could look up the vin and give me the details that a dealer might leave out. Thanks!

Not a carfax, but the experian one. Seemed a little weird and didn’t have as much info as a carfax does. But yea, I’m trying to see some info that the dealers put in that might not have made it to a history report.Did the Dealer offer a Carfax that will show maintenance and accident information reported but you never know about information not reported.
My 2023 was AWESOME! All of the model year 2022-2026 6.2L motors are suspect and can go at any time...luck of the draw. It's kind of luck of the draw with most ZR2's but I wouldn't touch any 2022 to 2024 if they were the last trucks on earth
My 2023 was a POS.
My 2025 has been flawless
Thanks Mo! The truck I’m looking at has 61k miles, so I think it’s got a decent engine in it. I’m more so just curious what other issues it’s been to the shop for (radio, transmission, etc). The truck I’m looking at is absolutely perfect and everything I could ever want, I just want to know what to expect when I buy it.You will find a very few on here that will argue the “issues” are mainly internet folklore. You will find more than a few threads on here with a decent number that have blown motors. Some have reported blown motors after they passed the test and a few that have blown their second replacement motor. This forum is a very small subset of 6.2 motors in the wild, many are fine. Be your own judge with that information, as many have said…it’s a roll of the dice.
You don't have an industry leading 10 year 150k mile motor warranty tho and the 25s and 26s are still shitting the bed! It's kind of luck of the draw with most ZR2's but I wouldn't touch any 2022 to 2024 if they were the last trucks on earth

Completely understand. I really enjoyed the 1500 zr2 platform - I found it to be perfect for what I wanted (hunting, camping, climbing, road trips, and daily driving). I’ve got a few buddies that bought them after taking hunting trips with me. I had the 6.2, then a 3.0, the moved to the 2500 for payload, farm work and really enjoyed it as well. I had zero problems with any of them and none of my buddies driving 6.2 and 3.0’s have either…absolutely no problems. Thanks Mo! Thanks for the insight! That’s what I was telling someone the other day, even if the engine blows, I get a new one for freeCompletely understand. With that kind of mileage, it’s held up and like axe said if the motor drops you get a solid warranty. The fuel control module are a known weak point and many carry a spare under the back seat. Lifters are well known but seem to be fewer these days. Most other stuff is piddly - radio, leaf spring squeak, occasional camera, etc.
And the reality is all of them have their “issues” on Ram, Ford, and Toyota forums - I tend to be the know what “could” happen but enjoy the heck out of them but accept the reality of what could happen - best of luck, enjoy it if you get it bought![]()
The bigger issue is that, yes, you have a great motor warranty and if it blows you "get a new one for free". However, they are replacing motors with motors that have the same issues and haven't been fixed, nor will they fix the root cause of the problems because the new 2027 motors are being released. So the bigger question going forward is will GM replace the defective 6.2 motors with the new 2027 replacement? We will all find out soon enough, but having that extended warranty would not give me a warm and fuzzy as far too many people have had more than one motor replaced which is totally unacceptable! Thanks for the insight! That’s what I was telling someone the other day, even if the engine blows, I get a new one for freeWith the rest of the auto industry, it’s like picking your favorite problem. All cars suck these days, but which problem do you wanna deal with? Really curious what “warranty work” the dealer is doing right now
regardless, I’ll still probably buy it

Well aren't you a ray of sunshine. You don't have an industry leading 10 year 150k mile motor warranty tho and the 25s and 26s are still shitting the bed!
He's only stating the truth. I wouldn't buy one of these trucks today if it was me...not worth the chance and depreciation.Well aren't you a ray of sunshine.

Just my two cents but I can almost guarantee you the second motor failure is because the tech that installed it didnt prelube the engine and for the ones that fail after the picoscope test done for the recall more than like had rod bearing failure the pico test looks for a vibration frequency that is from a bad thrust bearing not rod bearings. I have replaced 18 to 20 6.2s from trucks to suvs and even camaros and vettes and less than 50 percent of them were thrust bearing failures and I only replaced one twice and thats because I was lazy and didnt prelube a vette. You will find a very few on here that will argue the “issues” are mainly internet folklore.
