AZ ND Trip

So I took the scenic road back to AZ through Montana, Idaho, Utah and Arizona. Had a chance to take a break here and there and take some photos of great scenery.

Big Sky, Montana along Galllatin River

Missed an early winter storm dropping about 12+ inches of snow today across NW North Dakota. Kinda wish I would have stayed another couple days.

Montana is Amazingly beautiful!

AXE quick question. Are you familiar with the hydraulic controls on the skid steers? I have a mini I use and when I engage the lever to lift the bucket, the lever feels hard and I have to really push on it to get it to work. Wanted to check with you since you run machinery like it.

I only know enough to be dangerous. My Dad is the equipment guru.

I do know that I've had the electronic settings in the control panel get out of whack and it affects the hydraulic performance. You may need to go in to the menu system and make some adjustments. That also requires some thought on the newer machines that are a lot more sophisticated. We've got a new mini x and have only used it for a couple projects. Settings got messed up and I couldn't operate the bucket and tooth, it was so slow. Set them back to normal and away it went again.

We've had to bleed some hydraulic lines and tighten some fittings. Maybe you have a blockage in the line or something is hung up along one of the rams.

They are great machines and I can't imagine trying to get anything done without them.

Glad you got it fixed. I had a hell of a time getting one of the hydraulic hoses on our trencher hooked up. Finally figured out the fitting was twisted and the locking collar was jammed. Had to disassemble it and reassemble it and it was back in order. Took 5 minutes to fix, but 15 minutes of cussing before I seen what was happening.....lol.

Up in ND doing some work this past week. Set a couple of pumps and finished off the well heads and pads. Added about 2000 gpm to the system.

Finished this water impoundment late December Added 375K barrels of storage capacity.

Getting ready to run some water soon.

Grants, New Mexico.......some nice country!
Looking good. My Mom and brother have lived in New Mexico last 20 years.
A block from his house is a huge open
Mesa that you can ride, 4wheel for hrs without ever passing a soul. Got there last year with the kids for about 10 days.
Such a great time. 🫠

There's several stone houses in this region. Not a lot of wood supply in this area. When it was initially settled by Native Americans it was buffalo hides and sticks. When whitey took over we improved the standard with sod and stone houses. Eventually when the the railroad came to town you could get wood and build a house.

I think there's still a sod house a few miles away that was rebuilt about 20 years ago. A guy lived in it for several years.

Yes my ancestors were from Scotland and Norway.
Norwegians great people did a six week on 2 wk off gig in 2014-2015 in OSLO when the new US embassy was being built there. What a great place. 😀

I used to sell motorcycles from 1998 - 2002. Back then Honda was considered the best there was. When Doug Henry first won the championship on that YZ 400 4 stroke, the world changed. Along came KTM, 4 strokes and the 4 strokes became the norm. From the mechanics that I knew and personal ownership I think Yamahas are damn hard to beat! The 3 cylinder turbo is now in experimental aircraft and kicking butt in STOHL competition. Something like 400 HP. I've never had trouble with a Yamaha & I like Honda's a lot. The KTM still has a little better suspension but the price difference is significant.
Did you know Jim Canner he was Dougs
Original coach for DGY when he scouted his talent and got his first big break at orlando super cross win. Jimmy gave his induction speech when he got into motorcycle hall of fame. Many good memories, rode with jimmy on and off for over 30 years. He never took a full factory job coaching offered by Roger DeCoster because his wife fell terminally Ill. Such a great humble guy, with amazing skill. Hit by a bike that pancaked me while on side of track at 40. 8 broken bones including Shoulder
Clavicle 2 vertebra fractured. At 50 to 52 rode the fastest laps of my life on pro tracks with my 2018 factory ktm. Bikes been idle last 3.5 years because of blood thinners.
What great memories.

New Mexico has some really diverse landscapes. It's a nice place to travel and work.
