Gearcase and Transfer Case Fluid Change

Most people don't use their 4WD that often, so its possible that it is just clean from low use. I use mine probably more than average it still looked pretty clean. The rear is spinning 100%, so it gets used up much quicker.

Did my differentials today. My tools for the t-case are packed up, so didn’t get to do that…. But soon. Rear looked pretty smoked at 63k miles, not sure it’s ever been changed. Front looked pretty good, so I’m wondering if they replaced the fluid with the engine or when they were working on the transmission.

Also, it’s worth noting that the front differential uses paper gaskets, so you’ll either need a new gasket when you do it, or some gasket sealer.

Also, can confirm, the front differential is a HUGE PITA…..
