Well, as I've stated, this recall is a moving target. Not sure this latest recall update is common knowledge. However, in this video all the specifics are discussed with specific citations in the recall.

The only remedy GM is providing now is that you will receive a new motor and the oil specification will be 0W20. This specifically targets certain VINs and will evolve to include others as motors and parts are available.

You can see the remedy at 6:00 and motor oil spec specifically discussed in the video at 10:30.

Your vehicle cannot be bought traded or sold by any dealer until remedy is satisfied. You basically own a vehicle worth $0. Probably wouldn't prevent a private sale.

Wouldnt this all depend on which recall your vehicle falls under? There are three different versions running around right now and have been for a while.. On top of that, we know GM is not about to replace 700K engines. I am still betting it's going to go the way of if your shit aint broke right now, youll get an oil change and a pat on the ass with an extended warranty. LOL Granted I could be wrong and GM could do the right thing and replace all of them, but I doubt it.

It's got a lot of layers.

I read it as everyone is even getting a new motor as they move the VINs to open status. Oil changes don't fix damaged parts.

Also, I think they figured out they can't just buck emissions laws that governed those vehicles when they were sold.

They obviously figured out they can't survive killing families. Nobody likes dead babies!
