Bourbon Talk

Been crickets around here lately. Went to the grocery story for some Bulleit Rye 'cause it was on sale for $18 and I'm craving a Manhattan. Then seen this Whistle Pig PiggyBack 100 on sale for $38. Firgured I'd give it a taste and see if it has some bite.

Thank you @AXE for highlighting how woefully inadequate we are. Haha! Tonight’s pour is a new one. 123.4 proof 6 year Rambler. I used to think of myself as a bit of a ramblin man but more so just a sip or two with the Mrs. Now days hits all the right notes. Cheers gents!

That'll have a little bite to it!

I just had my first pull of the PiggyBack. It tastes really good and pretty damned smooth for 100 proof.......or its not really 100 proof. This could replace my goto Knob Creek 9 for my 100 proof.

that’s great! I’ll have to pick up a bottle. I really like the Knob Creek also.

The Rambler needed an extra second to breathe when I opened it. A few minutes for the angels share. It is excellent. Doesn’t drink like a 123. At $50 worth the chance.

Cool Bottle... Hopefully tastes just as good.
At 88 proof it leaves a bit to be desired. I’m going to look through what Old Elk has to offer to see if I can find a barrel proof or cask strength. It has potential though.

I'm in airport purgatory. Had three delays. The first was the FAA didn't have enough staff at the Denver International Airport. Then we sat parked 20 feet from the gate after push back. Then 30 minutes later announced we need one new tire so 30 minute delay, then 10 minutes later we needed 2 tires. How about check the tires when the plane arrived 90 minutes before original departure.

70 minutes later we leave and I got 20 minutes to make my connection. Have to go from terminal A to B in the train and about 100 gates in this shithole airport where nothing works.

Low and behold I get to the gate at my original departure time and there a 20 minute delay due to crew late. So I make the last leg and now get in at midnight hoping I get a rental car.

I'm not as fast as I used to be, but I can beat a lot of them.......LOL. I need a jug of whisky to keep pace with society's frequent shortcomings.

Trying to get to seem my brother in the hospital. Hes been sick off and on for a while with respiratory issues. He took a turn south this morning.

Difficult situation. Wishing you and your family the best.

Tonight's pour is Wild Turkey 101 in memory of my brother! This was his drink of choice. For 101 proof, its surprisingly a smooth and tasty whisky.

He had been struggling with respiratory issues and hospitalization for the last several weeks. He decided it was time to move on to better places and called his own shots.

I was there holding his hand when he passed and I know he is off to a better place.

Prior to him calling the end, he asked if I would bring him a shot and we drank from this bottle of Wild Turkey 101 in the hospital bed.

Equal parts farmboy, cowboy, roughneck, and outlaw! I always knew he was the the toughest MFer around.......and so it will be.

Today we said goodbye and we are in a good place and we forge ahead! God bless everyone!

My Condolences Axe.... It sucks losing a Loved one. Sounds like an Awesome guy!! I have to say that would be amazing to share that memory of a last shot together... We all can only hope that we are able and have the time to do the same when it's our time to go. He is no longer suffering and is in a better place! Prayers for peace and comfort for Yall's Family and that God will Bless Each of You.... Cheers!! 🍻

Praying for your family Axe. That is definitely tough stuff. Glad to hear you don’t take the small moments of having one last drink together for granted. I really like the Wild Turkey 101. My Dad really enjoyed that also. We had many opportunities to share a bottle.

Tonight’s pour is Pinhook vertical series rye. 111.2 proof very complex and showcases the race horse Tiz Rye Time. Excellent sipper for sure.
