HVAC blend door actuator rattle

Anyone else have this happen to them? Seems to only happen when the truck is doing a system check before the ignition is pressed. Sounds like a blend door actuator skipping. Seems to go away when the truck is running.

Idk if it matters or not, but this is the first time I have had the truck in freezing conditions.

Been in plenty of freezing conditions, actual temps in the teens multiple times, and never had an issue.

Confirmed this only happens when it’s performing a system check. Once in the truck driving all the HVAC functions work properly.

With as many computers that are on these trucks I am hoping that it will show them something and I also have the video evidence.

Headed back south in the morning and will confirm if it goes away with warmer temps.

I have narrowed down that it is the actuator for the fresh air/recirc door. My it is stuck in fresh air only. Been breathing in all the exhaust fumes, road kill smell, and smoke for the last 6 hours.

And if Chevy would spend $3 more for aluminum gears instead of the plastic ones in that motor, this would never happen.

This is what happens when the bean counters are in charge. Cheap parts and vehicles nobody wants to buy.
