Infotainment System Update

I got the OTA notice about the update yesterday and let it install.

So far it seems to be working well, although it did take a bit of time after it said the install was completed for google maps to load but after that is seems to be a bit snappier than prior to the update.

Also, it my be my imagination but the forward and reverse cameras seem to be a little different now. A better quality image than before but It's probably no different than before the upgrade.

I lost track of all the previous threads, so a new one on my latest infotainment system update.

I had my rig in for some trim repair. I asked them to do the latest infotainment update and they did. It didnt list the actual update number on the work order, but I believe it may be N242435631-04 from last fall. I've included photos of all three update packages and relative dates they were performed on my rig. .

My system wasn't terribly bad compared to what others have posted. My main issues were occasional signal drops on Sirius, lock up on Sirius and Android, and GPS losing track of vehicle. It was all intermittent and random. I also thought the bass on the Bose system was soft compared to my other rigs.

It's too early to say, but it seems to be a good update and surprisingly the bass is now on par with HD and Tahoe. Not gonna rattle the windows, but better for the average user experience.

I'll give it some time, but might do the Tahoe and HD if it holds up. Both work fairly well, the HD has had a few cut outs on Sirius but very infrequent!
Just got my truck back from the dealership this afternoon. They’ve told me the cause for the music dropout was the amplifier. So far it’s working fine

I call BS. Every GM truck I've been in with this infotainment system has audio drop-out issues. It's the communication taking place between the phone and the radio that is muting the sound. Nothing to do with a bad amplifier unless you truly have a bad amp which I doubt. If you disconnect your phone from the radio, the drop-out goes away. It is a design flaw in the hardware and there is no software fix. As soon as you reconnect it to CarPlay, it comes back. Can't speak to Android as I don't use that OS.

I use Android and can't say for sure if that is causing the drop out. My wife uses Carplay and she doesn't seem to have many issue with drop out. I use Androif in the 1500 and it still drops once in a while but is better after updates. Ive hardly ever had any drops on 2500HD, but lately I've had a few. Could easily be something with phone connection and it just happens randomly.

I use Android Auto. After last year's update, The only dropouts I've ever had is with Sirius XM. Android auto seems to work faster than trucks native system.

I find I get radio drop outs/interruptions at specific geographic places. Same every time I pass that area and have the same geographic drop outs with other cars and XM. Very specific location down to within 100 feet.

I would think if it was the phone it would be random, mine seems to always do it 5 times leaving the neighborhood.
When CarPlay connects to the head unit, there is a lot of data transfer passing across the radio data bus during the initial start-up. If I disconnect my iPhone from the radio before start-up, this doesn't happen.

I agree with securityguy. The CarPlay connection with the phone has flaws. Everytime a text comes in it lowers the volume. It’s annoying. There are other flaws as well with the connectivity between the phone.

This is what happens when you mix an Android operating system with an Apple phone :( They don't play nice together.

I think that's part of the notification settings. It turn down the volume, sonyou can hear the notification.

Mine doesn't seem to want to replay the text message. Always gives me a permission error. I'm using Android.

So you’re telling me it’s suppose to connect automatically? FWIW I left my phone at home this morning and it still
cut out 5 times leaving the neighborhood. If it hadn’t cut out I might have realized I forgot my phone before I got to work.
