I finally got the insurance adjusters initial repair estimate of 16k. Would you guys have the truck repaired and keep it or trade it for another truck? Estimates repair time is 4-8 weeks depending on parts availability.

Me, a hit like that… tough call but I would lean to getting rid of it.

OOOOOooooorrrr going absolute hog wild with suspension upgrades and hardcore gear instead of oem parts.

I had a similar hit last year on a 2018 Grand Cherokee. They should’ve totaled it, but it was $15k in repairs and it doesn’t drive like it used to. A side shot to the front wheel isn’t good.

Regardless if you keep it or trade it in, make sure you get paid for its diminished value. There is a company that I follow on Facebook, Collision Safety Consultants that has a flat fee and has good results with getting insurance companies to pay higher diminished value.

That estimate is prolly not for all OEM parts either, they like to play that game too, I’d look to get another one, unless you’re keeping for a looong time and the damage is only the surface stuff we see. Just a thought

My wife made the same point. She said even if they got it perfect I still would t trust it or be happy. Im actually having my sales guy run numbers on a very low mileage 23 they took in.

Carfax pulls from the Dept of Highway Safety and Police reports among other things. My sales buddy showed it to me and could t believe it was listed already.

No police report was done on my wife's vehicle.

Fact. Carfax reports are the quickest way to empower someone to say “I’m not paying that much for this”.

If the repairs are done correctly it should not be an issue. However there are just too many half ass repair shops doing shoddy repairs.
