Recently GM has replaced the AC Delco PF63 filter with a new PF63A filter. I just discovered this when I changed oil on my wife's Tahoe. I couldn't find any of the other filters and then figured out there isn't many available.
The filter is black, not blue. It is also heavier, but about 3/8 inch shorter than the previous one. The weight comes from a heavy duty base and stronger canister. It looked to be well made. I guess this new one has a higher bypass valve operating pressure of 22-25 psi, whereas the old one was 12-15 psi. Presumably this was related to the newly specified higher viscosity 0W40 oil from the recall.
I haven't cut one open yet, but I'm concerned that you lose a little filter media. This is more of a concern, cause the 2500HD uses the same filter and I run longer intervals.
I found them at O'Reilly and Walmart, with Walmart a couple dollars cheaper at $12.
