[JD ZR2]

Hello, glad to join the forum. Currently have a 25 Silverado 2500 Trailboss but looking at dropping down to a Silverado 1500 zr2 3.0L.

Past truck was a 2021 Silverado 1500 Trailboss 5.3L that I added the DSSV ZR2 shocks with front leveled 1.5" and Cognito UCA. Ran 35" BFG KO2 on stock rims. And Amp steps

Needed more towing power so current Silverado 2500 Trailboss has torsion bars turned up just over an inch and have Fox 2.0 shocks. And swapped a set of ZR2 18" rims with 35" BFG KO3. And Amp steps.

I am missing the MPG so that is why I am thinking on going a 1500 zr2. There is a used 25 for sale with the 3.0L that I am interested in. Pretty much can do a straight trade.

I do but not as much as we were planning. Was going to buy a travel trailer/tow hauler but we decided not to get one. Currently haul our horse trailer, small utility trailer and a larger utility for our UTVs.

Was thinking the 3.0L ZR2 would be a better fit for my needs. But still love my 2500.

Why worry about mileage then? Your mileage will go to hell towing with that little turd diesel anyway.

Brand Spanking New Chevy owner after a few years with the mopar folks. The rebel was a fun truck but i an all in on my 2026 ZR2 Silverado. I just need wheels to go with the white truck. Seems like the blacked out look is everywhere and i need contrast. Not a fan of stock shallow wheels

There's some good threads in wheel and tire options. If you go with a bigger tire or 0 or negative offset wheels, you might need to do some trimming in the wheel well, but it looks much better.

Welcome to the Forum. You have come to the right place. The folks here always have great input and suggestions for anything truck related. Your original post message reminded me of something my old auto shop teacher used to say regarding trucks;

"You can do a small job with a big truck but you can't do a big job with a small truck." I love driving my truck for small or big jobs and towing. If the maintenance and fuel get too expensive, do more work or raise your prices

Realistically anytime a trailer is hooked up to haul fuel mileage goes out the window on any engine platform. These 3.0's are programmed for efficiency but it can pull some weight around. I average 23-25 on the DIC, mixed driving with a heavy foot. I get 17-18 mpg in real time towing flats boat. I just hauled 4,400lbs (6,300lbs w/ trailer weight)of lake muck and yard waste got 15-16 in real time. I get about the same hauling excavator. I started at 23.4 and lost two mpg after dump. If you plan on towing all the time don't expect to see extremely great mileage in my honest opinion.
