New used ZR-2, lockers not Working, bad Fuel Mileage.

Question: With the Ford 2.3L I4 engine, it's setup to run w/either regular 87 or high test 91+ fuel. With the High Test, the computer corrects for the fuel, adding more HP.
With Regular 87, the HP is said to be around 270, while w/91+, it's 300+ HP.

The GM 2.7 I4 is said to be 310 HP, but is that w/just Regular 87?
If it is, then using 91+, does the HP increase using it?
No, the engine is tuned for the 87. Just like any vehicle unless the tuning is present then it is actually making less HP. The higher octane fuel has additives that allow for a higher compression (retardation) with no detonation. The vehicles that have a requirement for higher octane can run on lower octane however, the mpg's will drop. The EPA sticker that is on the vehicle is certified to that MPG using the higher octane. It help the fleet average for the manufacturer.

The use of no ethanol is not about octane it is about the energy for me. This will explain for those that are interested.

So your saying, the GM 2.7L I4 enine, which is advertised as having 310 HP, is doing so using 87 octane fuel only, and that there is nothing built into the system, like the Ford 2.3L I4 has, that improves it using 91+?

I wouldn't sweat the oil and filter change from the dealer. The oil and filter will be more than adequate.

I changed approximately 15 gallons of oil this past week on two skid steers, a 125kW diesel generator, a 2500HD Duramax, and a motorcycle. I used Rotella T6, Rotella T4, Mobil Delvac Extreme, and Honda oil. I used Wix, Bobcat, Napa, and Mobil 1 filters. Never once did I think about what was used, cause I know they are all quality products.
Work slowed so I Just finished deep cleaning the ENTIRE air intake system including....the throttle body. Spraying, scrubbing and rinsing.....Completely degreased the engine and scrubbed and sprayed everything down... Then changed both filters, 6-6.5 quarts of Pennzoil ultimate Platinum 0W-40/ 2 quarts Lucas synthetic stabilizer and still have to finish the coolant flush, new spark plugs,.... I chose the Bosch double iridium and the trans-filter change out And finally an AC system purge and refill. 48,540K now and still runs like a raped ape.bVery blessed and happy with my purchase 👍
New tires coming this week also... I like the KO3s, bust saw a different style Nitto the other day and it had fantastic side tread stance... Forget the name? ... Definitely need something with more than a 2.5 ply. Getting prices together in the next couple days... Ripped one of my tires open completely and lost the sidewall so I'm riding on a spare. Hit the perfect sized v-shaped rock hiding behind a bush on a trail .. I mean it looked like an ax head almost at just the right angle...Last weekend out in the trails... Trying to schedule time to get it all done at once almost impossible. Always doing something...

I agree with @AXE about the oil... As long as it's changed properly is all that matters and it has enough. My dealer doesn't care about the brand..... Or for Lucas additives. He said just keep track of all my receipts in case the engine blows and I'll have everything I need for that 150K warranty. I do most of my own work or have another trusted source to it
I never take my stuff to the dealership unless it's a dealership only issue... Never had a warranty problem. Haven't used too much of it but, it's always been pretty straightforward with this dealership.

All GM is really going to care about is..... Getting the proper area serviced and
are you caring for your truck properly.... and at proper intervals, with proper parts....
If so,.... just keep your receipts and you should be fine with any reputable third party business doing work on the vehicle for a much cheaper price than the dealership will do it for, yet still done properly and with the right materials. That is not breaking the GM warranty. It's sad that so many people think they have to take their vehicle to the dealership and only to the dealership to keep their warranty proper....

I was able to get my oil/filter changed yesterday, using my provided Amsoil 5W-30 Full Synthetic Oil, and a Wix XP oil filter.

I like to use the best in regard to the care and maintenance of my vehicles, especially w/the care of the turbo.

Some will dispute this, but oh well. 🤷‍♂️

Over the holiday, I did well over a thousand miles, including off-road, w/over 5040 miles now on the engine.
I bought the truck used w/just 3200 miles on it.

The Chevy Service Manger gave me all kinds of bull about the fact that they can only install GM products, which I've never had issues w/other product dealers, but finally conceded when I came back, and even then, only w/the oil, stipulating that they are not responsible if anything should happen using non-GM products. 🙄
I left my Wix XP oil filter w/my oil, and they installed it w/the oil.

It gets very hot where I'm located too, reaching well over 100 F during the summer months here in Eastern California.
