Well i know this is a ZR2 forum, but i wanna hear from the ZR2 people. I had a 26 ZR2 i bought in December. I had one engine failure at 1500 miles. they replaced the engine and 2500 miles later my truck has been in the shop for similar symptoms as before but I caught it in advance. but it appears too late as they say I need another engine already. GM is throwing a fit saying there's no way. so, I'm lemon lawing it. I went through 2 engines in less than 5k miles. I'm pretty terrified to try again but I hear everyone is having issue's reliability wise. should I try again or move on?

Unfortunately...time to move on my friend. Look at the RAMs...very nice trucks.

I have a 2025 with about 4000 miles. No issues whatsoever. Yes, I understand you could add "yet" to that statement. I have the factory 5 year, 60,000 mile warranty - due to that I have no concerns. I think it is pretty rare to see a 2025 or 2026 go down due to the bearing/crankshaft issue. If you research engine reliability you will quickly find that Ford and Ram trucks have issues also.

Not true...the 25 and 26 motors are the same as the others and it's a luck of the draw. When you get an engine replaced, you get the same old same old...still a problem.

Well, they're all 6.2 liters. Some facts - in late 2024 model year GM identified (or, at least admitted) that there were issues with the crankshaft journals / bearing interface that was causing the motors to suffer bearing damage and motor seizure. The crankshafts appeared to be sized appropriately, but the journal surface was not prepared in a fashion that supported an appropriate "cushion" of oil between the journal surface and the bearing surface. These crankshafts were manufactured in Mexico. Crankshaft manufacturing was then move to a long term GM plant in Tonawanda, NY. If you look at the recall it's for engines through most (but not all) of the 2024 model year. There is no recall at this time for the 2025 and 2026 models. Those are facts.

Get onto YouTube...there are 2026 engines failing with less than a 1000 miles on them...the problem has not been resolved and GM knows it. That's a fact.

I’ve got 68000 on my 2022. It passed the pico test and I’ve been running the 0-40 Supercar oil since then. I’m probably jinxing myself, but the only issue I’ve had is the fuel pump module going out a couple of weeks ago. Other than that it’s been the best truck I’ve owned in the last 20 years. I’ve got the 7-year 125000 mile warranty on (I usually keep my trucks a long time) plus the 150K special warranty on the engine, so if it holds out I’ll probably wait to see what the 2027 brings before I do anything with it.

I drove F150s for years - my brother in law worked Ford so I get A/Z plan pricing. They are really nice trucks but Ford is adding even more emission control systems that’s zapping HP and torque and just making them more expensive to repair.

I’ve never owned a Ram, but I travel a lot for work and I’ve rented a few. Very nice trucks and I actually like the hurricane TT online 6. Lots of power and smooth as glass. The interiors are well above Ford and Chevy as well.

For now I’m staying with my ZR2. If Chevy would add a supercharger to the 6.6, live valve shocks, and a little wider stance, I’d buy the next generation for sure.

You ain't the only one! I've seen a few on #3. Some run, some don't!

I'll sell you mine, but it'll be at a premium price, cause I did all the hard work to make sure it'll run for 250k miles.

You want them to run, you got break em in right, change the oil at the right intervals, pull oil analysis, run the right equipment, etc.

The majority of the people that run these trucks drive like old people fuck. Most of all you need to use the paddles and try to keep the rpms consistenly between 3000 and 6000 rpms and never shift out of 5th gear.

You'd be better off with a 22-24 model cause it has the 10 year 150k motor warranty. The 25 and 26 models are not yet covered and are still grenadine. They are still using the same parts bins and oil. So they are still delivering turds to customers.

They are fun trucks to drive and some wont have problems. However, there will be many more failures as the time passes. It's just the law of averages playing out.

I’ve never owned a Dodge product. Saw an ad on tv advertising 10 year 100k powertrain warranty on their trucks. It’s intriguing. I’ve had the 25 HC for almost a year now. Had the 24 zr2 for about 14 months before the HC. Getting close to another change maybe? For what it’s worth the zr2 had a much better ride than the HC. The seats in the HC are more comfortable. The dssv shocks in the zr2’s are very good. I’ll buy another zr2 if the new motors are any good. It’s too bad GM can’t make the 6.2 more reliable (I haven’t had issue with either of mine) because when it’s running it’s a very nice power plant.

I have owned three Dodge trucks and 2 Jeeps. No issues that warranty didn't cover. No engine issues.

I know another 25 folks at least that have Jeeps/ Ram trucks and they haven't seen some of the crazy problems the internet has come up with!

All my trucks were comfortable and had plenty of power. There are a lot of internet people that talk a lot of crap about Chrysler products. They can't be much worse than GM at this point! Many of these folks have never even owned a Chrysler vehicle.
