Not so lucky here, I had to purchase my ZR2 at Midway due to the local Chevy dealer lying to me about the two ZR2s at Midway being sold. Called them, both were available but by the time I made it there a day later the off-white one was sold so settled for the red.. Only services I had performed (free oil change) at a local GMC dealer.
Had the same thing happened to me back in February of 23 when I first purchased mine. I purchased mine from TrueCar Network.
So the way it works is dealerships have a representative that works with TrueCar and there's usually only one or two Representatives that have the working knowledge of how the program works.
They dealership representative agrees to list a car or truck or SUV on the TrueCar Network for a set price and that price cannot be changed or negotiated. What you see is what you get.
I found the one I wanted with all the options I wanted and when I called the dealership a salesman answered and stated that was not the price and was much higher. I told him there is federal laws against switch and bait and if he tried to pull some

I was going to file a complaint with the government and do all I could to make them miserable.
I tried to explain to him what TrueCar told me and he said he would check into it and get back to me.
So he calls me back a few hours later and we set up the deal and I told him I would not be able to get to the dealership with the cashier's check, as the banks were closed until Monday and I needed to know the exact dollar amount so I could bring a cashier's check. Salesman told me to call him at the bank Monday morning and he would have the exact number... He says okay everything's good. Told him I would call him when I was at the bank Monday morning and I asked him to set the truck off the main showroom or off to the side somewhere and I will be there in 2 days to pick it up. He agrees and reassures me and tells me no worries he'll take care of it he's working all weekend and we'll make sure no one tries to rotate it back out to the floor and it'll be ready for me when I get there Monday.
So I go to the bank Monday morning and I call him for the exact number to get for the cashier's check and he states he was off during the weekend and the truck was sold.... I called BS and told him I hate liars and asked him if it was already sold, why it was still listed as available, he tried to play dumb and I told him

hung up on him.
I immediately called TrueCar because the truck was still being advertised on the network

I told them that the salesman had lied to me , tried to do a switch and bait and that the truck was still listed on the network because you can verify it by the VIN. TrueCar actually removed the first truck I had found off the network and told the dealership they could not sell anything through TrueCar anymore because of the deceit! I was super pleased that they stepped up to the plate and did the right thing
TrueCar was great, they even helped me find another one with all the features I wanted within an hour or so searching and for about $5k less than the previous dealership had listed the other one and it about the same distance from my house. The 2nd truck even had the blacked out wheels like I had originally wanted. I asked TrueCar what the out the door number should be for the cashier's check and they told me so I immediately went to the bank and got the cashier's check. The true car representative called the dealership and verified that the truck was still there and told them I was on my way. Drove about 8 hours to get to the dealership and walked in and handed them the cashier's check and they handed me the keys and I drove away. Other than the additional purchase of the AUL extended service plan haggle which I later found out I overpaid for

, it was one of the smoothest vehicle purchases I've ever made in my life and I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a vehicle to try TrueCar. I will definitely use the service again if I buy another vehicle, but at my age I think this is the last one.
Meanwhile my local dealerships had far fewer inventory and wanted $25k to $30k more than TrueCar did. I paid 73.5k for mine, and the dealerships here had them for $95k
Some stealerships are crooked as hell and I've seen a few people on here talk about the same type of issues we've had. It's sad that the world is all about greed.
