Has anyone had the add oil message come on before your first oil change? They told me this is totally normal 4200 miles. ( I drive a lot but not aggressive.) They put my levelling kit on from Peak and my black out kit and changed the oil they said every 2000 miles 1qt is normal. I can't imagine why they have engine issues. My dmax never had an engine issue. 198K miles.

I have always checked oil levels between changes and added when necessary. With these engines using super thin oil it’s bound to use some between changes, especially if your going by the oil life gauge.

This was 3 quarts low at 4500 miles. It makes me feel somewhat better it burns it bc its thin. I am not an engine guy former FF/medic and construction company VP now. I dont know engines. Hence why I asked. I dont know how you guys keep up with this stuff.

My wife's Escalade gets the add engine oil display around 50% oil life. We've had my Chevy dealer and the Caddy dealer look into it and they say its normal. The engine runs great though besides that.

My other 6.2s dont have this challenge. We have the recal letter now so we'll see if they change their toots.

While doing my consumption tests for warranty, dealer told me 1qt per 1k miles is within spec.
I dont think thats accurate at all. If thats the fucking case, why not just put an oil tank and an injection system in to add 3 oz every 100 miles.

When I thought mine was using oil, I had my SA look it up when I was standing in front of him. He said the new 6.2L motors were 1 qt per 2000 miles and the older ones were 1 qt per 3000 miles.

If mine were using 1 quart per 1000 miles, it wouldn't be mine long cause the entire head and emissions systems would be destroyed by contamination in short order.

I think it's absolutely bonkers as well. My specific response was "so if I come in for a 5k oil change, it's fine to only have 3 qts left"? Sounded like warranty evasion BS.

My dealer sends me home with 5 extra quarts to top off in between changes so Im a happy camper. Plus I get all the free coffee and napkins I want every time I go in
