Scout (Volkswagen) announced their official unveiling of the new Scout SUV and truck EVs for October 24. I can't wait to see it. They will be buikt in a brand new factory in South Carolina.

My great grandpa, grandpa and uncle owned and operated at an International Harvestor dealer for 40 years, so I'm keen on seeing this come to fruition. The first vehicles I ever drove were IH trucks and Scouts.

I am hoping they announce pre-sales date too. I plan to get one if I can. I'm not gonna pay $+50k to be the first guy in the neighborhood, but if pricing is reasonable I'm getting one.

I found a 1971 (I think) International Scout for sale for $700 when I was 15 (1987), and tried like hell to get my dad to buy it for me for my first vehicle. He was anti-4wd… more maintenance, get in more trouble, blah blah blah , and ended up buying me a 1973 Chevy Cheyenne LWB, wrecked, leaked and burned oil (had to put a quart in every $10 worth of gas), bald tire, vinyl seat torn up and down to foam, … and paid the same $700 for it. Ticks me off still!

These were two of my first vehicles I've driven. They are still sitting there at the farm. I took this picture a few weeks ago. Both would need some work, but they would run.

Scout released the new electric SUV (Traveler) and truck (Terra) they plan to build at their new South Carolina factory. They look pretty awesome. I wish the Terra truck had a little tougher appearance, especially the front clip. However, I think I'll get the Traveler SUV anyway.

It has a range extender option called Harvester that uses gas power to get 500 miles range..... fucking awesome move Scout!

All for the low price of <$60k.

I have minimal electric rig use cases but the electric w/ gas generator has me a bit intrigued. It’s kind of a reverse hybrid in a way. Depending upon how it worked, that might open up viable uses cases for more folks. In the end, I don’t see electric vehicles as a viable large play but interesting nonetheless.

I'm getting one just so I can park it next to these two at the farm when I'm done! Might just have them mummify me and keep me behind the wheel for eternity like Tut.

Nice work, will be anxious to see how these unfold.

Funny side comment. My wife was enamored with the robins egg blue bronco and white top retro look when Ford first announced they were relaunching therm. I put a deposit down the day they opened the list for her. That color combo ended up being their “heritage limited edition” with only 1966 made and only for select dealers like five years later. That whole rollout was a damn mess, long story short she got one like 6 years post deposit. So…good luck!!! Ha!!!

Same as Tesla, just a big shit show, but not as bad as Nikola. I'm hoping the Germans have better execution, but they are less reliable now too.

I'll just keep driving my broke dick Chevy's for a while. I got three of them, so I should be able to keep at least one in service until then.

Getting new tires on my wife's Blazer and they gave me a Silverado RST EV to drive. After putting about 200 miles on it, I can say it is a tech tour de force and seriously quick, even in regular mode, forget about WOW mode. Don't race one at a stoplight. EV is interesting propulsion with the immediate power delivery

My salesman contacted me s few days ago and was trying to sell me a Silverado EV. They would have to make them look like a truck or a Blazer to get me interested. I don't want to drive a truck that looks like a Honda Ridgeline. I have no doubt they are are high performance.

Drove a Porsche Taycan a few years ago at a track event they had. Thing was like a space ship and did 150 like it was standing still.

Thus far, the new Scout is the only EV that has genuinely piqued my interest. Hopefully it can live up to they hype and they keep their promises, but I’m going to hold out hope until they’re near final form
I think one thing Scout has going for it is VW and Rivian joint venture. Rivian has one of the highest customer satisfaction ratings of all EVs and have brought some unique design elements to the EV market with industry leading software. Combine that with VW cash and manufacting expertise, it has a lot of potential to be good.

You can already see some of this it the preroduction models. I hope they are finished with a little more rugged appearance, but they are on the right track so far.

I'm just really happy they will be made in the USA.

Being connected with VW, I wouldn't be surprised if they somehow cheat emissions on it too. . . . . .
Every manufacturer should do that or they're just bootlickers who love their commie masters......Mary Barra is #1 on the bootlicker list and can't figure out why she can't sell EVs in ChiNa!
