Just like I said then? Also another tidbit of useful information is that they are rolling out a new 4500/5500 truck platform next year and I'd be willing to bet the new motor is offered there first. Then it will probably be in the revamped 2500/3500 HD probably as a 28 model.

This seems more logical than the clickbait YouTuber types claiming the L6P engine code is the 8.3. 27’s are right around the corner in terms of dealership ordering, hard to believe there is no detail on a completely new diesel at this time on the order calendar if it were the out of the gate diesel motor.
Having said that, I wouldn’t think they would have done revamping of the l5p engines for one year…seems more likely there will be an L6P and the 8.3 overlap, at least for a while? maybe certain trims? Maybe a buy up? - thoughts?

Yeah, I think it's something along those lines. We would have seen more information on the chassis and redesign by now. Maybe some "spy" photos.
I think I recall someone posted some photos of a potentially new 2500HD with "camo" in the wild. But not sure it looked like a significantly diffrrent truck.
Doesn't matter much to me, I'll have a new Scout in my driveway before a new Chevrolet.

I guess that answers it…surprised me for sure! Be interesting to learn more and see how an all internal ground up design unfolds in the wild.

So new motor in the same shitbox package......... that's abysmal! Until they can prove they can put out some better quality, I won't be in any hurry to pay them any more $$$.
I am going through another round of trim issues and software bullshit........it's the gift that keeps on giving from GM!

I’m going to stick with mine, no interest in being a guinea pig on a complete ground up build. Some of the design approaches are certainly interesting, I will give GM credit there. I am also not an educated enough gear head to know the pluses/minuses of some of the fundamental changes.
I don’t care about the HP/torque numbers, a built L5P is just as strong and at some point extremely few actually need it. I tow max fairly frequently hauling cattle and equipment and I honestly never feel like I need more.
Of all the new trucks, the Trail Boss 1500 has the most appeal to me. No passenger screen, price point allows for suspension upgrades to rival the zr2. And I like the curb appeal.
Good to have options in trims and power trains, I will give GM credit there.

Yeah, the trailers I run max loaded at 15k, so running 24kish gross and the current motor stock will pull 6% grades at 70 mph without much effort.
I'm about to buy another trailer that maxes at 18.5k, but I won't load that much anyway.
The exterior styling on the new ZR2 is really nice. Plus you cant beat the suspension.
I'm just growing weary of all the bullshit trim and electronics issues. They are gonna have to be more reliable before I get another one.......not sure that will change soon enough.
