Column shift, but if it's electric and lightweight like I recently seen, then it'll be shit. I'd break it off the first week.

It frees up the center console and you dont have goofy cup holders.
 
The big question is. . . Are you able to shift into neutral if the turd bricks itself
They have a put a box end wrench in the missing glove box if you can get under it to access the shift cable into the transmission.
 
Are the current crop of 2500s electric shift or mechanical?
There's shift linkage going into the transmission to engage from park. The transmission control module (TCM) does the gear shifting L1-L10.

I posted a YouTube video some time ago where a tow truck driver showed the process to mechanically shift the transmission into neutral using a box end wrench to rotate the linkage and lock it into neutral.
