whats everyone using for truck bed storage. right now i have a tonneau cover, with dewalt tool boxes in side for all my work tools, another rigid box against the back as the "truck box". i keep looking a decked but its so damn expensive and u loose soo much bed space. Im an electrician...dont load a lot of lumber. most pipe, strust, boxes of material. I NEED security, know my stuff is not open to prying eyes or easily taken out. Weather proofing is needed as well. Not 100% but at least mostly dry will work.

Check out my thread about my Milwaukee Packout storage system. It's only as secure as your tonneau, but you can configure it any way you like and remove it whenever you like. Its kinda expensive for the boxes, but it works well for me.

Decked is pretty awesome. I had the old version in my previous truck. New one is even better, especially with the drawers pulling out further. Watertight and secure. You do lose some bed utility though. Plus side is the top is really strong. You can pretty much put anything you want on top of it. A lot like a flatbed though. You usually need to strap anything on top down. They are worth it though if you are getting tools in and out a lot. The drawers will spoil you.

how do find it day to day with other gear or it all goes in the decked system ? cooler ? u strap it down ? but then its gotta come out or do u worry about someone walking off with ur cooler..especially if its name brand. Also...i dont mean to insult...but a lot of things ive heard is that if u actually use ur truck for a trade or on a job site, its not a good system.

Right now i have two dewalt DXL boxes...they fit side by side or stacked on one side(fits under cover)...but anything in the back i have to climb in to get or throw back there...the boxes are big but already filled up...boots are just thrown in the bed, tool bag as well...then if i want to have a day with the family i feel i end up taking have that shit out to fit a stroller, beach chairs, etc. It feels repetitive and exhausting sometimes lol.

I use my truck bed pretty often. Im sure more then average. I regularly carry tools, material, ladders, trim, steel, ect. We camp and Kayak also. Decked is great for tools. The downside is large things or heavy stuff. IE loading a generator, pressure washer. Same goes for bags of quickcrete, top soil ect. Stuff like that. You have to set it on the tailgate then climb up and lift it up on to the deck. Not a huge deal, but it is a hassle if you haul that kind of stuff often. Same goes with a cooler. Everything like that has to be loaded and unloaded twice basically.

The drawers and tool access is awesome. You can still haul a lot on top. But most things on top need strapped. The plastic is pretty slick so stuff slides around. The bed rails also aren't very tall over the decked. I liked mine a lot overall and had it for several years. My brother-n-law has one in his 1500 AT4X. I ended up switching to a Retrax metal bed cover when I changed trucks. Mainly cause I have a wife and 3 kids still at home. So I need more covered space often then the drawers. It was better for work. But on weekends with the family the bed cover does better for us. Suitcases, trips to Sam's and Costco. Stuff like that just having the whole bed with a garage door over it does better. Topper with a roof rack would actually probably be best for me. But I just don't like them, lol.

It either meets your needs or not. I wouldn't want to give up the bed space myself unless I had a cap on it.

My neighbor has one and he loves his for his tools. He has several rental properties and leaves them in there locked, but also has an electric retractable tonneau that is pretty secure.

You do a custom Milwaukee packout system, they make a cooler that locks right in. You can do some drinking and screwing all at the same time.
