2023 Silverado 2500, 6.6L Duramax work truck, under warranty with 48K miles. Regular maintenance record with dealer, purchased at this dealer. Towed into dealership with no-start condition. Lots of metal in fuel filter. Further inspection determined that injector pump had seized. Warranty claim has been escalated to GM, and GM just MIGHT total this truck and write a check for it. Why?

When the pump seized, it cracked the engine block(see pics). Warranty parts replacement of engine, fuel system,. etc parts is up over $46K, and labor hasn't even been considered yet.

Seems like a good reason to run fuel additives, especially those that lubricate well.

And that was only supposed to happen to the LMLs with the CP4 pump.

These trucks come with a lift pump by the fuel tank. It shouldn't even be a problem. More junk parts from GM suppliers.

I'm still running XPD XL additove in my new rig. Got 11 years running it on my previous CP4 with a Air Dog lift pump.
