****6.2 RECALL HAS BEEN RELEASED*****TSB NEEDED

Found this. Not sure if it’s been posted already. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2025/RCLRPT-25V274-1598.PDF
I called this months ago! I suspect they figured it out a long time ago, that's when changes were quietly implemented to newer motors. But they didn't cop to it until customer complaints to NHTSA.

"Engine teardown analysis identified two primary root causes, both of which are
attributable to supplier manufacturing and quality issues: (1) rod-bearing
damage from sediment on connecting rods and crankshaft-oil galleries; and (2)
out of specification crankshaft dimensions and surface finish"

A little sand in the motor during break in never hurt anyone, just loosens up the tolerances a bit for better performance and longevity. Probably why nobody can beat me up to 98 mph.

They are gonna have to pry my motor from my cold dead hands. It runs like a top and I've spent a lot of time and $ breaking it in properly, maintenance, oil analysis, etc.

I swung by my dealer to chat about this at lunch. Here’s the rundown on how they’re dealing with this.

Ask about recall- Yes but there’s no resolution.
Ask about recall 002- no resolution
Tech pulls codes- says you’re ok “for now”
Ask if they start replacing motors how long is the turn time- laughs and says months

My thinking is that dealers for the time being are going to be using delaying tactics to keep these vehicles from going on that 60 day clock due to the financial risk involved. All I’m basing this on is the non-answers I was getting today. I’m set for an oil change at another dealer tomorrow. I’ll see what results I get there.

Don’t think it’s been mentioned. Wouldn’t a DTC P0016 turn on the check engine light? Or could it come and go and stay in the history? Asking cause if you take it in and check engine light isn’t on you would know your just getting an oil change and new fill cap.

Hot off the phone with my go to chevy house,,, “No, we cant check for the code right now because there is no remedy, you will be getting notified by mail from GM of when you are able to bring it in to be checked,”. I asked if i could being it in and have the aught 40 put in, “no, not until you receive your notification,”. I said i have the notification on My Chevy app, they laughed and said “yeah ya do, and we thanknyou for calling today,”, click
They were really hesitant to say anything and sounded like they were reading from a script,,, shocker

If I win the shit lottery and up with the “002” recall there’s absolutely no way I’m doing it until it blows up and it will be traded in that day.

I’m good on a tech making warranty rate on taking the entire front end apart on my truck. No thanks.

Side note. My boy Mobil 1 better move their ass on 0W-40 EP. I’m not feeling paying super car oil pricing for a daily driver.

Buy a Bluetooth dongle to connect to your OBD II port. Scan for codes occasionally and screenshot your code reader app when any codes come up. Save them for when you visit the dealer.
