6.2 Recall Letter

At the dealer now getting mine checked out and the Onstar module replaced. Did see this while checking in.

I have every receipt for every thing I've ever purchased for this vehicle including oil changes air filters etc etc. My SA has told me to keep every receipt in case anything goes wrong... That way I can prove I have done all the proper services. I have a file with all of the mileage and dates of everything I have ever done.... Hopefully I'll never have to use that.

Might not matter. Anybody can write stuff down on a spreadsheet. GM is gonna want proof. Always save your receipts.

True. I do try to keep them when I remember. Sometimes I shred them then go oh damn.

If they tried to blame it on improper oil changes....sure go ahead and prove that. IF that was the case the engine would show it to be true.

I had a mechanic tell me I was changing the oil to often in the wife’s vette. I responded by asking when was the last time he had to change a blown motor because the oil was too clean?

If memory serves, they had a stop sell until the test was accomplished and the recall completed. You should be able to look up you vin on mychevy and see all recalls open/complete. The only way yours would not have had the test and gotten a new engine or new oil is if the engine already was replaced and the date on it fell in a particular range.

Someone correct me if my memory is faulty here.

A few mods here and there, nothing major. Engine is stock other than intake tubing to clean up the bay. Throttle controller and DFM disabler installed.

If you have the MyChevrolet app, it has a tab showing open recalls and the ones that have been completed. Dealer can also check status using VIN. Some insurance companies also have access to recall information on their apps.

Dealer will need it for 4 or 5 hours, if you do the pico test and need the ECU reprogrammed. Mine needed programming, but my wife's rig didn't. Not sure what the reasoning for that is, but she had a Tahoe.
