If Brandon didn’t F things up, we wouldn’t need any of it.They already do to the tune of about 600k bbls per day. This is because we consume 19.5 M barrels per day and because our refineries are designed to process heavier crude since the oil crisis in the 70s.
We are now producing 13.2 M barrels per day due to fracking, much of which is lighter crude. Some of it is mixed with Saudi Crude to refine. Some of it is exported, about 4.5M barrels per day.
Some comes from Canada, Mexico, and South America. Now you know why it's expensive, because shipping and refining costs are a big part of it.
I think it's good to have diversity in supply of because geopolitical ramifications. If there wasn't, prices wouldn't have any stability. They don't anyway, but it's because markets are manipulated by traders. If Brandon didn’t F things up, we wouldn’t need any of it.
