I Got Some Questions

Alright, I’ve had the truck for a month now and I got some questions.
1. My park assist will turn on when I start the truck, but as soon as I put it in drive, it turns off and won’t turn back on again until I restart the truck. Any explanation for that?

2. My infotainment system says it hasn’t been updated since December 2022… ummmm..?

3. While driving on the highway at night, with no one else around me and the adaptive cruise control set on the second distance setting, the truck randomly slams on the brakes, not once, but twice… I’m thinking about submitting an NHSTA report about it. Has anyone had this happen??

4. Sometimes I like to drive with the windows down and when I do, I turn off the climate control. Well a few times it randomly turned itself back on. Anyone else experience this?

I’m thinking about taking the truck to the dealership to have them do some software updates and to change the DIC display

any other insight or ideas would be appreciated!

Can't say I've ever paid attention to park assist. From infotainment Home Screen go to settings scroll down till you see system/vehicle settings some where in menu find check for updates. You'll be able to see firmware version and clear cache data. You can also go to wifi settings and connect to home wifi for a secure connection. Check your climate control settings within the settings menu.. I had an issue with adaptive cruise control one night and was the only vehicle on the road. The eye caught a light that was shining on the highway that wasn't a normal street light and it slammed on the brakes at 80 mph. Since then ive stopped using it.

@GatorZR2 I had the EXACT thing happen to me with the adaptive cruise control twice in one night. I’ve connected the truck to my home wifi and searched for updates, but nothing came up, even though the last update was December 2022

Well that sucks. I guess a trip to the dealer it is. Gm could be more transparent on updates. Gm says updates aren't discontinued for later models but I know other people have had the same issue not be able to update even with onstar service. It'll be interesting to see when my connected services stated on the window sticker expires if I'll have the same issue.

ANOTHER question: are sequential turn signals standard? I noticed them when my wife was following me while driving the truck

Dealers can force load updates. However, some technicians are better than others at actually identifying the latest ones. Seems like everyone gets different results. In the past, people would post the latest updates and specific codes. Not sure I see that as much now. Hopefully you get something that works.

I believe it depends on trim package. My last two Silverado's had sequential including this one, but all 3 had tech package.

Okay, these might be my last two questions…. Maybe….

1. Has anyone else felt the ass end of the truck swing to the side when going over a bump? I’ve got the multimatics and have felt the entire truck shift to the side when going over bumps from time to time.

2. Hard second gear shifts? Previous work orders said the valve body was replaced, but wanted to double check with the hive mind.

Can definitely say I have felt the "hop" in the rear of the truck. Its light back there unless you have something in the bed, it happens.

Can't answer to this one. I do not recall the 1500 ZR2 I had doing it and the 2500 I have now doesnt.

My truck is still for sale, but its now $+5k!

I haven’t felt a shift to one side or another but a couple times going fast over speed bumps the rear didn’t feel natural at full extension. Plus mine leans on the passenger side. Haven’t had time to get it looked at. There are known issues with bad leaf packs, u bolts needing re-torqued. I’d have the dealer check the lasted tcm update on the transmission then go from there.

I had the same issue with the adaptive cruise control and refuse to use it anymore due to that exact problem. With the 2022 you should be able to get a dealer to update to Android 12 and if you want the DIC to display a ZR2 I have some good information and a dealer located in Sanford, NC that can do it. It will run you $160 but I was the first one they were able to update to reflect the ZR2 display.

Damn! I just moved from Cary to New Jersey

. I’ll take the info you have for the DIC though! I’m trying to find a decent dealer in NJ right now.

I think we need to start reporting the cruise control to the NHSTA because it’s a serious issue. If someone was behind me, they definitely would’ve hit me and I’m sure the same goes for everyone else that’s had the issue.

Its not just the cruise control its the vehicle/pedestrian safety camera too. My wife had her Tahoe brake very hard rolling up to a major intersection. The cameras seen a pedestrian pushing a bike stanfing on the corner. It braked so hard she was almost stopped by time she got through the intersection. Fortunately, not much traffic or she probably would have gotten rear ended.

You can turn that feature off in the vehicle settings, but it will turn an orange collision alert on in your DIC. So you gave that annoying feature to look at.
