On my way home from work, while cruising on I-95 at around 80 mph, I felt a sudden jolt forward and lost all power.

However, there were a few strange things about the situation. I was positive the issue was with the motor, from the awful noises heard when trying to turn the car over to get it into neutral for towing.

Once at the dealer, which was about a 10-mile drive, the tow driver started the car. It cranked a bit but then started running normally. I was able to drive the car from the back of the service area to the front, they were closed by the time we got there. I didn’t go over 10 mph, but I was able to shift into D/R without any problems. The check engine light remained on, so I dropped my key in the after-hours box.

My Chevy app mentioned issues with the transmission system and the fuel management system but not the engine itself. I had recently filled up with gas on Thursday last week and had no issues driving around, so I don’t think the problem is related to the fuel.

For context, its a 2023 with about 40k miles. I was driving in Auto 4x4 mode because it was raining really bad and I wanted extra traction.

Has anyone else experienced a similar issue or do you think it’s not the motor?

Could be the lifters or the fuel pump control module. Those are common problems as well. Since you were able to restart and drive it a little, that seems plausible. Seems like when the motors go, they just won't crank or move again.

Doesn't sound like transmission related, but that is a possibility if you just lost 10th gear while cruising.

Hopefully you're not down too long..... good luck with repairs!

Thank you Axe, got a call this morning from my service advisor saying the codes make them believe it’s a fuel module too.

Will know more once the tech gets their hands on it later today. Wait to see for now.

I've had one under back seat since a few moths after I bought. Thats one sure way you'll never have a failure.

Yep. A bit of a grab bag with these trucks, but I've heard a couple other people mention similar behavior with bad FPCM, but most times it's just flat out dead.
