Tried to download the latest GM software update and got about halfway through and it stopped. All electronics would turn on but truck would not start. Tried disconnecting the neg battery terminal to reset the computer and still no start.

Towed to dealer. Sat for a week before they would look at it and the battery was dead. Once they charge the battery and tried to force download the software update. They had the same symptoms of walking up halfway through.
They believe that the range DFM disabler module that I installed, possibly caused a short to the ECM and killed the ECM. They are gonna replace the ECM under warranty. Or at least that’s the direction they’re going.
Curious, if anybody else is running the range DFM module in it have downloaded the latest software update. And experience similar problems.

I'm running two of them and they have been to the dealer for updates and recently had an OTA update with no problems.

GM has many poor quality electronics. I'd believe their shit was broken before the Range caused problems.

My wife's Tahoe had a dead ass battery one morning and multiple codes thrown. I charged the battery up and no more problems. I chalked it up to failed OTA and dealer could not find any other issues and tested the battery per GM protocol twice.

I figured it wasn’t the Range product. I have had it installed for about 10k miles and never had a problem with it.

This happened to mine as well, Towed to the dealer and they had to reflash the ECM to get it going again I had the range installed as well and they didn't say anything about it. At least while it was there they were able to open and perform the recall on my truck.

I think I'm done with over the air updates.

The same thing happened to mine. It has been at the dealership for 10 days. They called today and said the putco virtual blade caused the issue and it wouldn’t be covered under warranty. I think they are retaliating because I caught them lying to me and called them out. No chance the light bar caused the truck to brick. Terrible customer service.

The most likely explanation isn't dishonesty, but incompetence. I repeat this mantra continuously. Yes, there is dishonesty in the auto repair field, but the vast majority of mis-diagnosis is incompetence. The lying usually starts when they are trying to hide the incompetence.

I agree! Amazing that these tech's don't look beyond anything but the codes, LOL.

I did the OTA update on mine and the doors lock and unlock randomly. Waiting to take it in.

Meanwhile, im going to light some candles and pray to the saints it doesnt brick on the trails. The jeep bros are relentless.

Had the same thing happen to my truck. For some reason the update didn't download and install correctly. All the same symptoms. Brought to the dealer today, and they still have my truck. I will keep you updated. They cant get it into neutral.

That requires a fight to the death! No way that would cause the issue.

Yeah, mine was the same way. They literally had to drag it on to a flatbed to haul it to the dealer. Currently, they’re replacing the ECM so hoping I will have the truck back today.

Yep same thing happened to me..
Stayed for a week up north while I was camping, Got back to the truck and it was flat
The dealer said to put it on a trickle charger to prevent it happening again...lol
It's happened two more time after that.
GM states that they don't know how to solve this issue... Man this company is broken!
Good luck everyone this thing is a rolling time bomb!
