All of those functions are controlled by the lighting control module and must be performed inside the cab. The Amber DRL solution is a mod that takes place at the headlights and tricks the signals coming from the LCM to change the color from white to amber. Therefore, there is no way to make an all in one harness to perform these functions. I don't like using these types of "hacks" along with the Boost Auto "hacks" because you have to create a diode bridge across the LCM wires and a dealer could void your warranty based on these types of mods if they wanted to be a DIC*!I ordered the no dim DRL harness. If they made a no dim AMBER DRL harness that would be badass!
You are absolutely correct. In my case my wife is the service manager at my dealer. I’m not sure a no dim amber DRL is possible but a boy can dream. Everything I do to my vehicles that’s my first consideration… the warranty. This was the first truck I’ve purchased where I bought the deluxe version of the extended warranty. Just replacing parts in the “technology package” alone made it worth while. I read it ten times before I hardwired my radar detector and camera ultimately mounting it below the rearview mirror. All of those functions are controlled by the lighting control module and must be performed inside the cab. Hardwiring a radar detector or dash cam will never void a warranty if tapped correctly into the interior fuse panel. However, messing with a BCM/LCM is a whole different story. She dealers will be cool about it...others not so much. When my tech saw that I had installed the Ultimate9 throttle controller, he threatened that he could void my truck warranty for doing so. I then told him I am a great friend of the dealers GM and he quickly backed down. Some techs are just on a power trip (service writers as well) always looking for a reason to charge you for something you should never be charged for.Everything I do to my vehicles that’s my first consideration… the warranty. Oh, I know, but I still ask. I'm not sure what to tell you, I had the same issue, I worked it for over an hour and just couldn't get it, asked my grandson to give it a try and it was off in 5 seconds. Part of it is there isn't a lot of working room and my hands aren't small, the other part is the weather seals on the connectors are pretty well seated and the locking tabs are tough to push in enough while push (to let the pressure off the clip) then pulling at the same time, my fingers were fried. I tried everything from picks and screwdrivers to push in the clips, nothing was getting it done. Then the grandson, yeah I felt stupid too, but whatever. Good luck, you will eventually get it.Does anyone have any tips/recommendations on how to get stick wiring harness off? I’ve spent the hour attempting to push it down and get it to release.. feel like a dumbass but my hands are shot and need a break.
We are just talking warranty claims with the headlights only right? Surely having this installed wouldn't void the entire warranty for the truck. Not to mention it would be an easy take off before you go into the delaer and reinstall after if needed. All of those functions are controlled by the lighting control module and must be performed inside the cab. A dealer can do whatever he/she wants to do by putting a void warranty code in the system associated with your VIN. They can be real @$$es if they want to be.We are just talking warranty claims with the headlights only right? Surely having this installed wouldn't void the entire warranty for the truck. How can I tell if that’s been done? I had to have my truck towed to a dealer because of fuel pump module. Wasn’t able to get the range DFM disabler off on the side of the road. They did recall check for engine while it was there. They took range disabler off and left it on my console when I picked it up. I’m afraid they will try and not give me extended warrantyA dealer can do whatever he/she wants to do by putting a void warranty code in the system associated with your VIN. I doubt you'll have any problems. They have to prove that the product damaged the vehicle before warranty can be denied. While they hold the cards, it's not likely they'll blame the DFM for a motor or transmission failure when they've admitted they have problems with them. How can I tell if that’s been done? Are these available in white? I'm not a fan of amber.
