New to ZR2

New ZR-2 owner.

I found this used 2025 ZR-2 at a local Chevy dealer w/just 3200 miles on it. It still had a lot of the original warranty left on it.
The truck didn't have a signal scratch on it.
I asked why the previous owner wanted to sell it, and they said he wanted a bigger truck, which he bought.

I was looking around for a new Colorado Trail Boss, w/the only real option I wanted being the factory sprayed on bed, which the ZR-2 has, as well as the color, Red, Silver, or Blue. Then of course the Rear Locker which comes standard w/it. This ZR-2 has both the Rear as well as a Front Locker.
Most of the local dealers only had White and Black in stock
There was a dealer that had a Red one w/a Sprayed on Liner coming in but could only estimate next week sometime.

Anyway, I went to go look at this Thursday evening, drove it, and started negotiating the price down.
We went back and worth I don't know how, including my starting to leave a couple of times, and finally while not perfect, it was close enough to what I wanted to pay.
It must have been a little after 9:00 PM when I finally left w/the truck.

Today I went and christened it offroad making sure everything worked.
Here are some pictures.

Everything seems to work except for the Lockers.
I would hit the Rear Locker switch in 4Hi, and the Locker appears to work, but would then kick out. I was moving at the time.
I did it as well when stopped but again would it kick out.
The same goes when running the Front/Rear in 4Low.

Then there was the mileage.
The best highway mileage I got was around 18. It was terribly windy, where my mileage went as low as 13 mpg to a high of 18, w/my cruise set at 70 mph.
From my readings, I thought the ZR-2 did around 20 mpg.

Anyone have any ideas as to why my Locked won't stay locked in?
As for the milage, is that normal, if so, would less aggressive tires help here?

Thanks.

Looks like a nice truck. Walking out of a dealer is the best negotiation tactic ever. They always pucker and suddenly find you a better deal.

Sometimes its just better to bring it into the dealer for warranty work on the locker. Might just be a simple electronic sensor or actuator that is bad. Hard to diagnose that without the proper tools and specs.

That mileage seems about right. I think that's decent mileage cause it's still a mid sized vehicle that sits tall. Switching tires wont help mileage and if you offroad, they won't be any good.

My son has a TB and his mileage improved after the first 2000 or so miles is s nice truck. .
