Retired to Florida 7 years ago. Three years ago I sold my 2006 GMC dually with the LBZ duramax. Didn't really need the diesel anymore because I sold the camper and wasn't towing heavy anymore. I decided that we need another pick up and was interested in the 2500 ZR2. Just really like the looks and figure at 64 it is probably the last truck I am ever going to buy. Here are my questions 1) how do most people afford these? my first house cost me 150,000. Second question I have been searching up to 500 miles from my location and I cannot find one without a sunroof, am I the only person left in the world who doesn't want a sunroof in their truck?

I think there’s like one guy in here without a sunroof and I believe he ordered his truck. I originally had ordered one without thinking it would keep the roofliner tight to the roof but it still just has the same contour and no sunroof. I ended up canceling to speed it up and bought one with a sunroof off the lot.
You may get lucky and find one without.

If you’re looking to get a cheaper deal definitely get the gasser if you’re not towing.

I don't have a sunroof on any of my rigs. I ordered mine without. Had one in the past and never used it. Then I opened it one time and it jumped the track and I had to repair it.....no thanks.

There're another recent thread that mentions Laura Chevrolet in St Louis with some big discounts. Might be some financing specials too for year end.

These are relatively low volume trucks, so you will have a harder time getting lower prices. Even with discounts your looking at 75-90k OTD.

You could probably get a better deal on a Trail Boss, LTZ, or High country and then set it up for the look/function you want.

AXE, been there done that with the sunroofs in the past never again. I agree with the different truck models but I am 64 and don't want to lay on the ground and do anymore lift kits just too old. I like the fact that it is already the way I want it. Probably will have to order one if I can't find it. I will just take a loan in my name in case I die before I pay it off don't want to make my wife accountable for it:)

Same here. When I decided to buy mine, I bought the Bison package, mostly cause I didn't want to do the work to outfit it with all the offroad gear and lift.

I usually keep mine a long time, so the last two trucks were relatively inexpensive to own and required minimal repairs only basic maintenance. When I sold them (all diesels) after 10 years I got 50% of purchase price. That's the only reason I can justify the prices.

If I have to order, I think I would do the Bison package also. Was hoping to find one discounted. I can wait a little while to see what happens. Just shocked by the prices. I have always done my own maintenance and repairs, but to be honest all the electronics crap in the new truck is outside my ability.
