Being the new guy, I have quite a few questions about my new-to-me ZR2. I will try to find old threads, so I don't start a bunch of repeats. That being said, have any of you put the powered running boards on your trucks? My truck has some running boards/rock guards on it currently. However, I like the clean look of the powered units. Plus, whoever owned the truck before me put on a leveling kit and 35's. I'm not short, but I'm oldish and would like a little lower step. Any help or pics would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have Amp steps and have a detailed post with pictures on both the 1500 and 2500HDs. They work well, but wiring is not plug n play as they describe, unless it's changed.

Recently people have installed the Boost Auto steps. Others have done the Rough Country. Don't really hear to many people complaining about their choices one install is completed.

You could ask the dealer if they can do factory steps, but they are AMP steps anyway.

I have the amp xtreme steps on mine and they have performed perfectly. The finish did start to peel a little and I had the custom shop I use spray them with bed liner and now they look better than when brand new. Very good traction on them with the bed liner. The custom shop has since started offering that as an option on all their steps.

AMPs are great steps but overpriced and the install is better on the RC and Boost. All are very high quality.

Mine had the GM powered steps and love them. Like you, I'm oldish and tall but that first step without a board was a bitch. Another problem was I had two back surgeries last year so still problems. So I had the dealer install them before pickup. Plus my GF is short. And with them up, you will never know they are there.

The Amp XL steps might have been a better option as they drop a little further. I use them so if I run 37s, they would be a better distance to ground.

Mine seem to be good for the ride height I have now. If the finish ever started coming off though, I don’t think I could bed line them. I’m sure they could get around the LED but the caps are were the controls are. I’d need to be able to get them off of they ever malfunctioned.
