Radio Issues

GUYS GUYS GUYS!!!! Just got Gandalf back from the shop and my Carplay doesnt sound like shit!
Hopefully it stays steady. They do have a reputation for working well for a few weeks after the updates and then falling off again.

I had mine in today for some accessory and trim fixes. Have to order parts, so they'll do the radio when I come in for repair. I'm hopeful the fourth time is the charm

Yeah, this is the 3rd time on the IOK system I have and theyve all been ass but this one. I know have a weird indicator on the far right corner of the infotainment screen that tells me when the mic is in use, similar to apple.

Let me know if yours works!

Have an update on this.. It happened again this morning. Same symptoms - no sound, blinker sound gone. Steps I took. reset the system in safe mode. turned vehicle off after this step. waited a full 4 minutes. Toward the end of the shut down time there were a series of clicks and resets and all power except the master door lock light (little light by the mirror adjustments) was still on. At that point, I opened and closed the door. This powered up the usb ports (I have a little usb light plugged in). started her up and everything worked.

Hope this helps someone else. Still planning to open a case at my first service.
I'm new here and this is my first post in the forums, but it's funny to see this issue as something everyone has experienced. There's no rhyme or reason as to why it happens either. It'll happen 3 times a month, then won't happen for 3 months or so. The "safe mode" reset you mention is actually the official GM fix (since I threw a fit about it after it happened ON MY WAY HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP). A $90k truck, and for my radio to work, I have to safe reboot, THEN shut the truck off, wait at least 2 full minutes, and restart. So, the only option is to beat the dog crap out of my starter instead of some genius at GM finding the glitch in the software? Got it.

Hey everyone! I know this is an older post and not sure if this problem still exists, but I ran into an audio drop of a 2014 Acadia I use to own with the Bose system. No blinker sound, no radio, nothing. I ended up replacing the stock Bose amp and it fixed everything. Not sure if that’s an option here but worth a try?

Hi,

I bought a 2024 ZR2 2500HD Bison in May and have radio issues. About once a month approximately, when started, the radio seems as it's muted. Nothing I can do to have volume. The bar volume indicator goes up/down but no sound. I turn the truck off and back on no change, but leave it off over night and it's back to normal. Took it in for service and firmware update when the volume was off and dealer said maybe the update will correct, but did not. I am currently waiting for it to happen again during hours when the dealer is open and taking it back.
I have a '26 and have the same issue. It's not just the radio though. It's also the turn signals don't make any sound and there is no sound when you take a call either (basically no sound from the vehicle works). I've been told that the problem comes from a fault in the bootup of the sound module. Just like how a computer starts up, it runs through a list of processes to boot up and if there is a fault in one of them then it skips that process and moves on to the next one. Hence, we have no sound.

I've been told GM is aware of the issue and has been working on a fix, and apparently have a beta patch that they are working on, but have not released yet, however, I know there are people on here who have been told the same thing for more than a year now...so who knows.

What I've found has worked is if you notice no sound you have to turn off the vehicle, get out and lock it, and move the key fob at least 10-20' away for about 1-2 mins (long enough for the vehicle to completely power down, which only happens when it no longer detects the key fob). Usually that works and it will be working normal on the next startup.

The believe the majority of the radio problems are with apple carplay. When GM finds the problem and sends it to Apply to get resolved Apple just sits on it for 6 months to a year. I have seen the back log of system issues GM has sent to apple for software patches and it is as long as your arm. Android tries to get patches out within 6 to 8 weeks. All this comes from a GM infotainment engineer I spent the day with trying to fix a radio issue on a corvette. I think this is the reason GM has elected to drop Carplay and design their own in house service and in doing so they have to drop android auto as well. I only use android auto and I have never had any radio issues in any of my GM vehicles except for maybe a couple of little things here and there and I think those were due to how hot it gets inside the vehicle sitting out in the Texas sun all day and the fact that electronics dont like heat.
