What have you done to your Silverado ZR2 this week? 🛠️

Got some more done today. Power and grounds, interface, and turn ons, wired up. Still got it going through the stock front door speakers with my alpine tweeters already in the dash, and it sounds about 40,000 times better. And I don;t have to turn it up to 2/3rds to hear when the windows are down. I'll be working on replacing the speakers tomorrow.

I hooked up the sub box from my old truck. It sorta fits, but it doesn't sit right. Works OK if I leave the seat down though. Adding that made it THUMP. I have to work some things out, the interface was working great until I touched the bass on the head unit, then I lost all the bass. So I have to figure out how to get that working right, and tune it.

Then I have to clean up the wiring. As you can see in the pic it looks like poo. I purposely cut a lot of it long in case I have to move it if the seat back interferes with it. I also have to find a good ground. I'm getting voltage on the ground wire when the amp is off and it's not connected to anything too. Which is odd.

Installed all the speakers and got everything up and running today. Sounds sooooo much better. I forgot what a good sound system is like. It took me forever to figure out how to work the EQ settings, So I still have to get that tuned a bit better, and I have to sound deaden the doors and maybe a few other areas, but that's pretty simple, and I can do that a little at a time.

Here are some comparison shots of the speakers and some installed speaker pics. The "new" speakers are a bit dirty because they've been sitting around for a little over 2 years... LOL...

Variation in ears.
Sure that has something to do with it. I usually prefer better speakers than most and am happy with it. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I don’t need subs or a high powered high range system in my truck since my 1 year old is with me often and I don’t play music loudly there.

Honestly I rarely play my music very loud either, but the clarity of this system is light years ahead of the stock one. There was a huge difference just replacing the dash speakers with tweeters before I even added amps. Unfortunately, the Navigation, calls and Android Auto message "reading" only comes through the dash speakers, and the tweeters don't play the majority of frequencies that are used for that, so You could barely hear it.

The crappy EQ of the stock amp really screws with the sound too. Taking that out of the loop did wonders.

I do like my bass though... :)

Those are the skids I have as well.

Thanks for the shock skid info. I’ve been looking for those. Ordered the BAKFlip MX4, bed rug and GoRhino RB20 Slim running boards today.
