6.2 test for recall

Thanks for sharing... looks like they are doing a noise and vibration test on the engine at operating temperature for this particular recall (one of three different ones)... at the end he mentioned he was going to put up more videos about the other two. Guess we all have to wait to find out which recall we fall under.:mad::mad::mad::mad:

I’d like to review the source code. I’m not convinced the software displays anything other than “Passed”. 🤣 On a serious note, I still expect the extended warranty. Just because an engine passes doesn’t mean it will at 50k, 75k, etc since it appears that GM can only narrow the problem to some manufacturing date in 2024. Parts flaws will still be present for many of us. At least the recall is starting to mature which is a step in the right direction. I bet NHTSA is calling BS in those closed door meetings which is forcing GM to get more creative in identifying bad engines.

Yep, I think this is a moving target and we'll get more information as we roll through summer months. Strategically, not saying GM has any strategic senses, they have to address the "elephant in the room" in July at the Q2 earnings call. They have to have some measured and quantifiable costs to assure investors they are on solid ground. Right now they appear to be listing to and fro!

INTERESTING......Only 107,244 Silverado's......that is a way smaller number of engines when it is narrowed into trucks we own....
I think I read Escalade and Tahoe had the highest #s of suspect engines

Just took my 2022 ZR2 in for service appointment I had scheduled before this 6.2L recall . They checked the codes and mine did not have the P00016 code present. It came back with no remedy at this time. I had them change the oil and filter with 0w-20 as I wasn’t going to pay for 0w-40 out of pocket which is over $200 if they weren’t going to do it for free. I was told I’d receive a notice in the mail if anything further was needed.. Anyone else have this same experience? Maybe GM is refining their approach on this recall.

My truck is scheduled for service next week. They'll probably do the same for me, with the 0w-20. I'm definitely not paying extra for the 0w-40. I'll wait a few more weeks til I get my letter from GM and take it in again for them to inspect the motor and possibly change the oil to 0w-40 at that time. Won’t be many miles on the new 0w-20 at that time, but doesn't matter. If they are gonna change the oil again for free, more power to them!

Just read that the official letters are not going out until June. I think once 0w40 is mentioned as part of the remedy, they will definitely have to pay for it. If you want to for not too much more or right at about the same price you can run 0w30.

Just do frequent oil changes that's the key and disable the DFM or drive in L9 consistently

My truck doesn't have DFM. Don't know why. Just doesn't. But has the Auto stop/start bullshit.

Normally I just change the oil myself. But with all the recall shit goin on, I'm just letting the dealer change it this time so I can have a record of it. Plus, I have enough GM reward points that it won't cost me a penny. I could wait a few weeks for the letter from GM snd get the 0w-40, but my oil life monitor says 26% oil life left. The oil monitor don't really matter to me, but I don't want them giving me a hard time about "neglect " if something was to happen to the motor or if it fails the test and needs replaced. If I had to pay for it I might wait. But using my rewards points it won't cost me anything, so, what the hell. Just doin it now.

It's funny some dealerships are still saying no remedy. Mine has called and texted me now trying to get me to schedule them to complete the recall.

traded mine within a couple months of getting it back. joined the baby max club.
I absolutely love my truck, but I'm thinking of doing the same thing as you did, or possibly just getting a Colorado ZR2 or Bison.

My truck runs good so far, but drinks oil. I'm wondering if the recall could possibly have something to do with oil consumption.

My truck doesn't use oil at all. Just over 5k on the oil now and levels are still good.

I've no clue where 2+ quarts is going between oil changes. Mine doesn't smoke or leak at all.

The last vehicle I had that used oil like this was back in the 80s. It was a 72 Mustang with a 351 Cleveland. It smoked, leaked and knocked like a Jehovahs Witness until I rebuilt it.

Don't know. Maybe i finally got lucky and got a truck with a good motor. No DFM, don't use oil........just gotta hope it don't lock up on me now. Lol !!!
