6.2L Engine replacement

I am at the dealership for yet more trim repair (seat base, tonneau) work. My 22 still isn't within the applicable recall window, so that work will not be addressed this trip.

I asked my SA if they have seen more engine issues lately. He said no, just once in a while. This is a busy dealership and they sell a lot of trucks and fleets.

He also said they were informed that GM is just about to release 900 new production 6.2L motors to address the recall issue. He did not know how they would be allocated, but thought eventually some bigger dealers would get one for parts inventory. However, i just looked up the number of GM dealers in the US and its over 7000, so that's a lot of inventory.

So perhaps the warranty replacement timeline will be shortened considerably in the near future.

I got to witness a 6.2L transplqnt surgery today on this TrailBoss Z71 today at the dealer.

The tonneau cover that shipped for replacement was the wrong one, so I got into the back of the shop cause they wanted to show me the issue with fitment.

So I seen this happening in the service bay behind my truck. Decided to talk to the techs. They had two guys on this swap. They said it had been there for about one month. I asked why they didn't pull the cab, they said you can do it both ways. As you can see its quite a process and shit laying and hanging every direction.

Also seen what looked to be a nearly new Colorado ZR2 Bison that had a lot of shit removed from the engine bay.

One thing about dealer work nowadays is that it appears to be all new shit they are working on. I only seen a couple of older vehicles that were previous gen stuff. Primarily the City of Phoenix Police Tahoes.

GM should be glad that they have competent dealers to keep this shit on the road. I have a great relationship with this dealers service department and they always take care of me.
