Bourbon Talk

Picked up a Michter's Toasted the other day and its terrific. It's now in my top 5.

Blanton's
E.H. Taylor Single Barrel
Eagle Rare
Michter's Toasted
Shenk's
Great line up! I haven't seen a Michter's Toasted yet, but when I do I'm going to grab it up. I also want to get my hands on the Eagle Rare barrel proof. I prefer the higher octane.

That toasted is one of my all time favs. Haven’t seen it on a shelf in my area since before covid.

Got a cool new decanter for Christmas. Perfect size for my experimental blends I mess with.

I pulled the trifecta tonight. Started of with a pair of Shiner Bock beers for dinner with my BBQ brats and beans. Then I had a Grand Marnier after dinner drink. Will close 2025 with a Blanton's or two in my new charred oak sippy cup that my wife gave me for Christmas.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I haven't been sipping or shopping much. I did run out of Irish whiskey that I use when I want an Irish coffee or a hot toddy for a cold or sore throat. So I picked up a bottle of Tullamore Dew.

Never had it. I suppose I’ll have to pick up a bottle to try.

Had a couple shots of Mexican bourbon tonight! This is a great after dinner shot. It's made with 1.5 oz of Patron XO and 0.5 oz of Bailey's Irish Creme poured on top of the backside of a spoon to float it. The XO had a nice chocolate and coffee taste, while the creamieness of the Bailey's makes for a nice balance..

Get yourself one and thank me later!

Quite a haul!
It was our first time out there. Lots of fun. Really cool to bring some things back that are distillery exclusive or Kentucky only products. I’m glad it far enough away that I won’t be able to get in trouble that often.

Not really a straight Bourbon guy...what Bourbon would you all recommend for an Old Fashioned?

If I’m doing an old fashioned I prefer something cask strength or barrel proof to keep the flavor when adding other things. Some prefer a rye or high rye bourbon as the spice tastes through the other ingredients so it doesn’t taste like juice. I like Elijah Craig rye or makers mark cask strength. But most of them make really good drinks!
