I thoughy this topic could use its own thread since we don't see this often.

@MNNJR69 rj8 How dirty was the TB when you did your cleaning? You might be the first with real data to post.

I usually do them around 25-30k. I was gonna do my wife's soon, as she's close to 30k.

Never did the the 6.2L running 93 octane. Was wondering how dirty it gets.? I mostly run Shell V-Power, which is supposed to be really clean with good detergents. For $7 gallon, it should come with a free TB service......LOL.

Damn, Newsome's shit spreading into a good state?

My throttle body was spotless at 32K, when I changed my oil. I use Costco premium. Last week It reached $5.00 a gallon. I think it was down around $2.73 a few months back.

LOL....... that's the last station on the way out of town towards the lake. I think they have it dialed up $1.40 for the jet skis and boats. I just put in 5 gallons in my boat. It runs fine on 87, but I like to run a little through it now an again.

I think its still about $5.60 or so in town. Still people ripping around everywhere. I guess it's just a speed bump.

I run 91 cause that is all the main places carry. I get top tier detergent from Sinclair. They have the best prices in town right now at $5:35 a gallon. I was getting it from Sam's club for a while but found out they don't carry top-tier gas, which is what meets and exceeds standards. So I started using top tier.

So as to the amount of build up on the throttle body.... it was slight to minimal.... But that is due to the amount of filters and cleaning the system lightly without tearing everything down every filter change. This was the first deep clean for me. I also run an octane booster and a Lucas fuel system product every other or almost every fill up. I also run a j&l catch can. The VP racing unleaded octane fuel additive says it does 7 points every 10 gallons. I usually just put one can in...but occasionally two and notice a difference most of the time. Watched a few videos on the science of it and it is one of the few that actually makes a difference....One last thing, I also do is a deep fuel system clean every oil change. ALL of
That makes a HUGE difference in the amount of debris that goes into that intake. I basically used one can of cleaner. Still have a little bit left in the bottom of the can, but scrubbed it all down with the brushes and wiped thoroughly with rags as I was spraying.

I took the negative cable off first So I didn't run the engine while I was doing it. Next time I might try running it and having the wife pump the pedal as I spray. Wonder how many Christmas lights that will throw 🤣🤣🤣 and then I sprayed and degreased and scrubbed the area where the Range module is plugged in. Then took the box system completely off and scrubbed thoroughly inside and out. Sprayed the cleaner, scrubbed, rinsed with clean hose water. The throttle body itself had a minimal black ring around the connection point with the hose that goes to the box and a minimal black ring around the swivel plate for the air intake. I sprayed that all down and The first couple inches of the wall of the intake tube and scrubbed it as I was spraying and then wiped everything down at the end. I completely covered the intake with multiple layers of cloth to protect the water from getting in and then I sprayed it all out with a hose and then took a wet/dry Shop-Vac and evacuated all the water droplets I could and then reversed the flow and blew it dry. I used a whole can on the MAF sensor.

Like I said, that was done at just under 50k And I have taken All the important measures to make it is a clean running engine. I think if you just used the premium octane you can get, depending on location, and change the filters regularly....You shouldn't have to clean the throttle body thoroughly very often.... unless...... You're out jamming gears on the trails on the weekends two or more times a month. I would also say it's a climate issue in the area you live... I live in the desert so it's a lot more dusty... ECT...

The MAF sensor on the other hand, I would recommend doing every filter change or to be more vigilant, every oil change.
For me, because I live in the climate I do and my driving habits, it was a lot dirtier than I thought.... so I will shorten service intervals now more in the area of 25k at the most. Like I said even my wife felt the difference. That's saying something.

On another note....Sadly my driver side mirror folding motor does not work anymore. It acts as though it's starting to and then is stationary, while the passenger side continues to work, so I have to turn them off for now. Unfortunately that's a dealer issue and it's a PIA to go there and be able to get loan or transportation. Figured I'd wait for a couple more things to go out first before I take it in. Definitely going to have the camera software updated again per that recent bulletin. It's the 22s only. If you have not had your camera software updated after March of this year then you do not have the latest software and can have camera issues along with the collision system warnings etc etc... mine is fine except for the 98% learn error. It's when the truck learns 98% of its surroundings and blacks out a small area. I think they could probably do to take down the rearview mirror assembly and clean the camera windshield lens also.

And on one last note I was going to post in another.... but since I'm on a rant... 🤣🤣🤣
I chose the Falcon wild peak R/T01. Best for my driving habits... I think somebody else in the group had Falcons also... I forget it's been a while since I saw that post. Decided to get all five so I don't have any issues out on the trails. The Big thing that did it for me was that rock... It's a 3-ply not a 2 ply tire like the Goodyear's are. Nice side stance also. I'm very happy with the look. Hope they wear as well as they say they do... I'm about to put down $2,300. Also going to get a set of welded slider steps. Just destroyed the 2nd pair of the Rhino Dominator xxl set I had. Not going to pay another $550 just to replace them down the road again. There's a few shops out here that I trust to do the welding to the frame and build them out so my wife is happy. I got the driver side front rocker on the last run. It was either part of that fire pit I was doing donuts into or the rock garden we climb through. Not too bad just looks like somebody backed into it with their trailer hitch right where the rocker meets the wheel well.... Don't know if I'm going to take it to the body shop right away or not. I'd rather get the sliders on first. These trucks are capable of being expensive to maintain, BUT.... They are fun to drive and I'm happy with mine as beat up as it might be 🤣.
