I am curious (imagine that) about experience with a Decked system. I am tired of playing Tetris with everything I keep in the truck and honestly would like to add a couple things. My swing-out case seems to be straining under the weight, my oversized under-seat storage is already maxed out and I am utilising just about every compartment and crevasse I can to carry what I want with me...and like I said, there are still a couple things I would like to add to the list. I have been eyeing the Decked system for years and I know a couple of you have it installed, (@MNNJR69 I believe, @8ball_99) but real-world use, how do you like it? Do you miss the bed space you lost? I believe I have to remove the step-up handle to install it? How much squat do you see vs how much you throw in the drawers? Do you get a lot of bed rattling with everything in there? I would still want to keep my soft roll-up tonneau cover, probably pointless, but I would still like that extra layer.

I know with V2 they made a lot of improvements that people were complaining about, which version are you running? I know a lot of people will say they like them, but I am also looking for the negatives. The one time you needed to move a fridge or entertainment unit. What you wish you would have thought about. Any accessories you would recommend (extra dividers, locks, etc. Thank you for an insight you might be able to offer.

I had three first generation Decked systems - two in half tons and one in an HD. I did have to remove the step up handle on my zr2 to install.

I got them primarily for hunting and camping setups in trucks I did not use daily on the farm. I really enjoyed them, had zero issues with them. I hauled whatever I wanted on top of them, never felt limited in terms of wanting to haul anything. They were solid for gear, guns, tools, etc. One nice thing is I felt like I had more “space” floorprint wise as there aren’t fender wells to work around so I could stack dog crates and coolers easier.

I never measured “squat” on any of them but don’t feel like I remember noticing much. Given GMs have some natural rake it would probably only help to level it a bit which I prefer so I might have just liked it. I don’t recall any noises either.

The “negative” for me was really only on the HD - one can’t use a gooseneck hitch without uninstalling the system. It just became too much of a “pain” and went to a DECKED tool box instead. over time you will get leaves and dirt and small debris under the system, removing and cleaning the bed is relatively straightforward as you don’t have to completely disassemble.

I personally can’t speak to the gen 2 systems but I know a couple guys that got them, once had a leak and they ended up sending him new top pieces under warranty and it solved his issue.
