I am wondering if anyone knows for sure what type of leather is on our seats and what portions of the seats are actually leather?

There's many panels on the seat bases, backs, and headrests. Wondering if it's just the center panels that are real leather? Anybody had one apart to see the inside of the material?

I have cleaned and conditioned my seats a few times. They are never really very dirty compared to previous leather seats I've had. In fact rhe drivers seat that's used primarily is the only one that even has a hint of dirt on the seat base.

I used Chemical Guys leather conditioner this time. It always seems like the leather had a hard time absorbing the conditioner and stays glossy for a few days. It seems like seats are slippery and so is the steering wheel. The other stuff seemed the same way.

It's listed by Chevrolet as perforated leather, which is supposed to mean full leather for highest level trims like ZR2, High Country, etc. Appointed leather is supposed to be leather just in the seating areas.

I believe it's leather, but it has some kind of synthetic coating to give it stain resistance for those that offroad, etc. It makes the surface less permeable and feels less plush. My wife's Tahoe HC leather feels much softer and plush to sit in, but it has the same seat panels and structure.

The leather conditioner eventually penetrates, it just takes some time. I actually like that the seats are easy to keep clean. I dont find them uncomfortable, just not plush feeling. I was just wondering if there is something better to use for this type of leather.

Well if your correct about the leather Axe, then Im gonna start wiping mine down with mink oil.
Thats what I always used to break in a new glove and I guess it should work on the seats.

Please don’t use mink oil! They are leather and they are coated. You don’t need to moisturize that much. The coating is like a clear coat. Mainly only need to clean them. I prefer high quality car care products like KCX.

Leather, pleather, vinyl, plastic, whatever blend that's not "cloth"...I've always been partial to Griot's. Love the smell, cleans well and if wiped in properly it leaves no residue. Unpopular opinion, probably, but I've used it in almost every leatherish seated vehicle I've owned.

I've used Griots as well. I'm not sure I like the smell.

The Chemical Guys stuff has a nice leather smell, the main ingredient is Aloe/Vitamin E lotion.

I also like some of the McGuires and Mother's stuff. I like Lexol too.

It's probably Mulan leather, or the seating panels may be Nappa leather with the side panels Mulan leather. Mulan is kinda like chicken nuggets...Leather fibers held together by some plastic crap.

I damaged my seat bottom of the 60% side of the 60/40 seat in the back, so I ordered one from GM and it showed up yesterday, upon inspection it looks like all the panels are real leather, thin, with some kind of backing on it, but you can see at the seams where the panels come together that it is clearly leather. While it is very thin, and obviously they do some type of manipulation to it to emboss and pinch it to create the pattern etc., it seems like it is of reasonable quality.

That's what I was looking for, thanks for posting your information.

I would say it's similar to the leather in my 2015 LTZ, but thicker. It has held up wellfor 12 years in that truck. It was tan and did get a little dirtier. My boy is still driving it and it recently got a small tear in the passenger seat (light use) and you could tell it was thin leather too, by how it appeared along the edges of the cut.

I use chemical guys leather cleaner/protector as well. Hell I use CG everywhere on my truck and it’s never let me down. Excellent products.

"Leather Seating Surfaces" same as when you buy furniture. Only the surface your but and back make contact with are leather. Everything else (sides, back, trim etc) is vinyl.

I'm also a huge fan of chemical brothers.
