I have a 2024 Silverado 1500 ZR2 with the power up and down standard tailgate. This morning I hit the power tailgate button inside the cabin. The chimes came on but the tailgate didn’t drop. I tried the button on the tailgate - chimes only. Next I tried the key fob - chimes only. I turned the truck off and went through the same procedure - chimes only. I let the truck sit for a few minutes, tried the button on the tailgate, it dropped. I tested the button on the key fob and interior button and the tailgate is functioning normal again. This is the first real issue I’ve had since purchasing the truck new last November.

Two days ago, I installed the latest software update. I’m wondering if the software update (N25-250520) caused this issue. Has anyone else had any abnormalities after installing this update?

I don’t have a code reader currently. Disconnecting the negative cable was my next move, until it started working normally again. Perhaps the software update had nothing to do with it. If it happens again I will try the negative cable disconnect. I’m scheduled for an oil change service on Monday, so I will have the technician scan and clear any stored codes and ask for a printed copy.

I only found one previous post of another owner who had similar issue back in 2023. It was recommended to apply lateral force on the tailgate while pushing the button and that will cause it to release.

As many software glitches that we get in these trucks they should have a switch to press or flip to do the resets do we don’t have to pull the negative cable.
Could theoretically put in a battety disconnect switch like they do for boats and other recreational equipment. It's a simple twist of a lever and you cut power.

Got an OBD Code Reader? Might see if there's a code stored and clear it.

Pull the negative battery cable for a few minutes and you can reset the software system.
Only negative is pulling power clears all error codes should the dealer need to get involved. I bought one of the obd readers after prior power loss issues the dealer could not figure out, as I cleared the memory more than once, I carry it in the truck and can screenshot it to the service tech.

Mine did that a few months ago (2024 2500) but only that one time.
