Just sharing our adventure and seeing if anyone else has had the same happen to them. We were on a road trip for a family vacation, central Missouri on the way to the Ozarks and suddenly the water pump goes. 46,xxx miles on my 6.2. We had pulled off the freeway to get gas etc and found the orange river coming out of the truck. Popped the hood and coolant was squirting from behind the pulley. It was about 2PM in the afternoon. I called the Chevy dealer I just passed and told the service writer my water pump just went and we were not too far but were on a road trip and could they quickly get us back on the road. He put me on hold and checked stock. They did not have one but a dealer 25 miles away did so he sent a parts runner to go grab the part while we got the truck to them. I ordered a tow since is was coming out pretty good and now was making that typical rattle noise when I backed it to a parking spot. Tow came, dropped us (family) at the dealer and part arrived, back on the road about 5:30. It was all paid by Chevy under the powertrain warranty. Unfortunate part is a water pump going at 46K. I have never had a modern vehicle with a water pump failure this early.
LOTSPEICH AUTOMOTIVE was the dealer that went the extra mile to take care of the issue for us. One very nice thing was the service advisor was not the typical type you find in automotive these days. Usually they question everything you tell them and always give you the line, "we have to do a diagnostic check to verify what is wrong" before they do anything on your vehicle. He took my word for it over the phone, verified VIN over the phone and had the part on the way while we made our way to the dealer. That is real service in my opinion.
