ZR2 HD Non Bison 37's

I think the primary limitations is the clearance with the inside edge of the tire with the UCAs. On stock offset rims you'll get close to UCAs, especially if your tire has heavy shoulder lugs. If you go with a 0 or negative offset wheel, then you could get close to the wheel well liner when turning because you change the geometry of the tire by 1 inch in diameter and 1-1.5 inches further out. Always best to test fit one wheel/tire before you go whole hog wild and drop $5k to find out it rubs.

You can read post on 37s and see photos of UCA clearance. Others have posted pictures of their 37s. The Bison package makes no difference.

Really? With no modifications at all? I find that very hard to believe.
look up ZR2 HD 2500 Group on facebook. A few member had pictures that replied to my question. Don't really care if anyone believes it or not just trying to help answer a question. I know the Bison is able to fit them with no mods and the only difference is the bumper.

i find it funny that the people that find it hard to believe don't even have a ZR2 HD
It came from the internet. After all the info in these forums about 37 inch tires.
It sure not as simple as hey I got these 37 inch tires, now I will just slap them on truck. Lots of variables in 37 inch tires just from different manufacturers.

as you can see in this video there is a clear difference in clearance from the tire and bumper between the two packages. From my reading and research both packages will accept 37's depending on what tire choice but the Bison does have more clearance. Hope this helps anyone trying to decide.

The difference in the bumper corner clearance is not the limiting factor for 37s on the standard non Bison ZR2. The wheel wells clear 37s at full turn by a good bit. If you wanted to trim that corner of the bumper, it would be the same as I did on the 1500. Also if you level the truck, that will help.

The biggest limitation is stock.offset wheels with minimal distance between UCAs when wheels are straight or full lock. If you air down or flex a lot during hard offroading you run a bigger risk of rubbing UCAs.

It's always best to test fit before fully committing. I didn't like the 37s with stock offset wheels (+32mm) for those reasons when I tested.

If you want to test, cut out a piece of cardboard to simulate 1/2 of a 37 inch tire. Hold it up on stock tire and have someone turn the steering wheel while you hold the cardboard on the outside of tire. Add some foam (10-30 mm) to cardboard to simulate a different offset wheel too. Then do the same turn test.

No sense arm waving, just do the work and you'll know if it works for your truck.

I've got a good non-Bison truck for ya....how about a 2022 LT using ZR2 suspension? With Nitto 37x12.5x18 I have a touch of rub on the back frame at articulation. Other than that I had to trim the front wheel liner about 4 inches from the bottom. I have no doubt a factory ZR2 with stock ZR2 18x9 wheels would fit 37s. There was already a Bison guy on here showing pics stuffing them at full lock. There is no suspension difference between ZR2 and Bison (surprised that needs to be said on here). My rubbing issues are due to using GM Accessory (or Alaskan Edition if you must) 18x8 wheels with an admittedly unknown offset. Grab the right wheel offset that pushes the bolt pattern out a touch more than mine and poof, the frame touch is gone. The front liner might be the same or similar story to mine though, I dunno. Either way its such a small trim that if you didn't know any better you wouldn't know it was cut at all.

Pics or it's watering hole talk

I am not even ready size up on my 1500 without knowing the impact to the driving dynamics. I am sure AEV may be working on it (LD, HD) as they already have designed it for Colorado Bison.

I do like AEV's RAM models. They are beasts. Let's see if they bring same magic to Silverados.
